Today PSV confirmed the signing of Andrés Guardado on a season long loan from Valencia today. The 27-year-old Mexican arrives on the back of an impressive World Cup campaign for Mexico, he's represented his country 108 times and has scored 15 goals. Guardado signed a contract this afternoon after going through his medical yesterday.
The left sided player started his career at Club Atlas where he came through the youth ranks, Club Atlas have one of the best academies in Mexico and Guardado started at the club when he was seven years old before going on to make 64 appearances for the senior team. After spending two seasons in the first team Guardado made the move to Europe to play for Spanish side Deportivo La Coruña. This was his best spell at any club to date, the Mexican made 137 appearances and also managed to score 23 times for Deportivo. In 2012 Guardado made the switch to Valencia, so far he's made 48 appearances for the club, in January he found himself being loaned out to German side Bayer Leverkusen where he only played in four games.
After completing his move Guardado spoke with PSV TV “I’m very happy to sign this contract and I’m looking forward to a great season and winning prizes with PSV.” he then went on to say "This is a great club and I hope to be able to be successful here."
The Mexican is the club's fifth signing of the summer, he joins Aleksandar Boljević, Remko Pasveer, Luuk de Jong and Andrija Luković. Luuk De Jong has already made his PSV debut and Guardado will be available to make his debut on Sunday when PSV host Vitesse.
