Only two months on after they last met in the Maracana, World Cup finalists Germany and Argentina will face each other once again. With Argentina looking for some redemption in Dusseldorf tonight, after the late heartbreak that they suffered in Brazil.

Despite it only being a friendly, both countries are expected to put out very strong sides. However, many expect Germany will have one eye on Sunday, when they start their EURO 2016 qualification campaign against Scotland.

However, there will be some high profile absentees and especially in the Germany camp. No less than three key players retired after their World Cup victory. Miroslav Klose, Per Mertesacker and former captain Philipp Lahm are all hanging up their boots, and all of them will be honoured before kick off. Coach Joachim Löw named midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger as his new skipper, but: himself, Mesut Özil and Mats Hummels are ruled out. Jerome Boateng and Sami Khedira are also unlikely to be risked. Mario Gomez, Antonio Rüdiger and Marco Reus, who missed the tournament due injury, are all fit and available for selection.

It will be a big occasion for Argentina coach Gerardo Martino, who will take charge of his first game for the national team. He will be without captain and talisman Lionel Messi, who picked up an injury while with Barcelona. However, rejuvenated winger Erik Lamela has been brought into the squad.

Germany predicted line-up:

Neuer; Höwedes, Ginter, Rüdiger, Durm; Kramer, Kroos; Schürrle, Reus, Götze; Müller.

Argentina predicted line-up:

Romero; Garay, Demichelis, Fernandez, Zabaleta Campagnaro; Mascherano, Perez; di Maria, Higuain, Aguero.

Predicted score: 2-2. Despite the significant absentees, it should be an entertaining game. Argentina will hoping that it isn't a repeat of 50 days ago.
