The Spoils were shared today at the Stade de la Route de Lorient as the home side Rennes managed to come from behind to draw with last season's Ligue 1 champions, PSG.

PSG understandably started the brightest of the two sides as they looked to close the gap on leaders Bordeaux. There wasn't much in the way of chances in the opening stages except a strike from distance from Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

A sight scare to the capital side came soon after as Vicent Pajot was through on goal, as he ran onto a very lucrative pass from Romain Danze, but the midfielder had strayed offside.

As the half progressed PSG kept to their possession game-plan, and this showed when the statistic of 80% was shown on the screens of those watching around the world. Despite the possession, it was Rennes who seemed to be doing more in the way of directing a shot towards the target- Pedro Henrique stepped past Cavani and hit a shot just wide of the target.

Lucas tried to get his side into the lead but the Rennes defence dealt with the danger, clearing the ball away. The ever agile, Ibrahimovic showed that he still has his world-class movement  as he created an overhead opportunity for himself, however goalkeeper, Benoit Costil grasped the shot as it bounced off his chest.

Both sides were to have decent goal scoring chances as new Rennes recruit, Prcic managed to trick his way just outside of the box but his side foot effort was too comfortable for PSG stopper, Sirigu. At the other end Lucas caught a cross on a half volley, but like his counter-part Costil had no trouble.

The best chance thus far of the half landed at none other than Ibrahimovic as his effort directed it goal clipped the woodwork, leaving Costil stranded. The goal was coming though and before the break, the unlikely source of Zoumana Camara was to be the goalscorer as a low cross from the right-wing beat the Rennes defence and the centre-back tapped the ball in from close range. Camara hadn't scored since 2011, his goal concluded the first half action.

The first chance of the second half fell to the trailing home side. Abdoulaye Doucoure had his effort from distance drift wide of the PSG goal. PSG were back on the offensive, Costil saving an effort from Edinson Cavani.

The highly rated winger, Paul Georges Ntep made his usual appearance from the bench and made an immediate impact in the game, from the most bizarre consequences. Ntep made his way into the PSG box and deceived the defence when his attempted pass to the more advanced Doucoure somehow made its way past Sirigu, sending the Breton faithful wild.

PSG tried to regain their lead immediately as a surprised Ibrahimovic had the ball drop to his foot, however his effort was cleanly taken by Costil. Rennes had the chance to take the lead themselves, as Ola Toivonen let a good pass fall to his left foot. Unfortunately for the Swede he had left the shot too late and was blocked by the defence.

After a succession of poor Ibrahimovic freekicks from distance, Ntep used his vicious pace on the counter attack to create another chance to score. He made his way just inside the box and the following shot was diverted out for a corner. PSG had a number of corners in the following stages of the game, nothing coming to fruition apart from a great palm from a cross by Costil, just as Ibrahimovic was coming into header the ball.

Rennes had decided towards the end that they were happy to play for the draw, Steven Moreira replaced Prcic late on and kept possession just as PSG had done earlier in the game. PSG had a few half chances from substitute, Cabaye and Ibrahimovic tried to get involved, but it seemed that they were saving themselves for Champions League action in midweek.

A final scramble just before the full time whistle had the Rennes' fan hearts racing, but it was Benoit Costil once again who cleared the ball from danger and keeping the game tied.
