In the first Eredivisie match of the weekend, Willem II defeated NAC Breda with a late second half stoppage time goal through Robert Breda as the hosts won by a score of 2-1. The first few minutes of the match were fairly dull as both sides were going through a feeling out process. The home side, however, seemed to have a little bit more about them as their passing and build-up play looked smoother and the passing was more crisp.

Willem took the lead in the 13th minute of play through Sahar after Dries Wuylens played a beautiful through ball that sliced the opposition's back four. However, NAC will look displeased as on replay it seemed as though Ben Sahar was offside by a yard or so.

Nearly half an hour into the match and the visitors were looking extremely disorganized and all out of sorts until Boateng found Tighadouini down the right side of the pitch. His shot hit the right corner of the goal and ricocheted off and was eventually cleared by the defense. At one point, the Willem goalkeeper made a bit of a blunder as he came out to catch the ball and fell to a Breda forward, unfortunately, he was out muscled by a Willem defender and they got rid of any potential danger.

Breda finally leveled the match in the 42nd minute, which was really against the run of play as they won the ball in the middle of the pitch. Matic blasted his shot from outside the box as it beat Lamprou rather easily.

Willem started the second half with more attacking intent as they looked to press for a second goal and take the lead that they probably deserved through the first 45 minutes. Breda were playing very well defensively, they were tight and compact and completely frustrated the home side as it seemed as though they were starting to run out of ideas to get behind the defense and into the eighteen yard box.

Finally, though, in the 90th minute of the match, Willem’s Heymans took his shot from outside the box but dragged it to the right of the goal. In the second minute of stoppage time the home fans exploded with excitement as Robert Braber gave the hosts the lead in which was the last good opportunity of the match. Brazilian Bruno Andrade headed the ball perfectly into the path of Braber as he right footed the ball into the back of the net as they gained the vital three points.
