Two first-half goals ensured that both Vitesse and Heerenveen took an equal share of the points in an exciting 1-1 draw at the Gelredome.

Mark Uth put the visitors ahead, before Davy Propper pulled Vitesse back into it just seven minutes later.

Vitesse were dealt a blow before the game even kicked off, with the injury of captain, Guram Kashia. This meant that Arnold Kruiswijk slotted in alongside Jan-Arie van der Heijden at centre-back, to start the game against his former team. The two defenders were beaten within the first 20 minutes however, when Morten Thorsby found midfielder Mark Uth in the box and the German slotted the ball into the bottom corner.

Vitesse responded almost instantly though, with a deflected cross from Rochi Achenteh landing right at the feet of the thankful Davy Propper, who smashed the ball past the despairing Heerenveen goalkeeper.

The Frisians were lucky not to be behind just minutes later from the same man, as Propper linked up well with Wallace, but Kristoffer Nordfeldt kept the midfielder's effort out with a smart save.

Vitesse enjoyed a fairly dominant second-half, with the runs of Renato Ibarra down the right proving particularly difficult for the Heerenveen defence to deal with, although the hosts were never quite able to put away their chances. Zakaria Labyad spurned  a great chance at the end to win the second game on the trot for his side.

It was a promising, but slightly frustrating result for Peter Bosz's struggling side, who only last week grabbed their first Eredivisie win since March - but despite today's performance, they stay in the danger zone.

Heerenveen are coping well without last season's star striker Alfred Finnbogason, the subject of a summer transfer to Real Sociedad. The Frisian outfit, however, will see it as two points dropped, as they continue to challenge for Champions League football.  Luckily for Dwight Lodeweges's side though, they stay in fourth spot.
