Today marks the second week of European football this season, and all 3 Dutch clubs partaking will hope to exit their respective games with 3 points each.

The only club in the UEFA Champions League from the Eredivisie is Ajax, and they travel to Nicosia, Cyprus to face APOEL FC. Both teams faced European giants in match-week 1, with APOEL playing Barcelona, and Ajax facing Ligue 1 Champions Paris Saint-Germain. Ajax came off better than APOEL, as a late Lasse Schöne costless-kick meant that the Dutch champions earned their first Champions League point of the season against a much stronger opposition.

However, after a tough night in Spain, APOEL were left without a point after their first game, despite taking a respectable 1-0 scoreline back to Cyprus. Ajax will have to travel to Cyprus tonight, and the away fixture may affect their performance. Schöne will hope to replicate his performance from last week’s game, and Ajax as a whole are unusually the favourites in the Champions League tie. The four time champions will have to play without Viktor Fischer who is out through injury, which may force a start for Anwar El-Ghazi. Despite this, it should not affect their performance, and they should take all 3 points away from APOEL.

Prediction: APOEL 1-2 Ajax

Two clubs take part in this week’s Europa League games; PSV travel to Russia to face Dynamo Moscow, and Feyenoord are the only team to play in the Netherlands as they are paid a visit from Standard Liege. PSV have made an excellent start to this season’s Eredivisie campaign, and Memphis Depay has been their standout player so far. However, he is reported to be injured and may miss Thursday’s game. This is a huge disadvantage for the Dutch club and his absence will hinder PSV’s chances. Both teams have 3 points in their group, as PSV beat Estoril last time round, and Dynamo came out on top against Panathinaikos. PSV’s Europa League form is rather impressive, as they have won all 5 of their last Europa League games. Dynamo Moscow have also showed impressive form, as they are also unbeaten in the competition this season. Summer signing Mathieu Valbuena will miss the game through injury, and his European experience could be a huge loss.

Prediction: Dynamo Moscow 1-1 PSV

Feyenoord will stay put this week, being the only Dutch team to host a European game. They have showed decent form in the Eredivisie season this year; however, they have lost 3 out of their last 5 games in the Dutch top flight. They also lost their last game in the Europa League 2-0, after a disappointing performance in Seville. Feyenoord have no injury concerns that will affect their starting eleven, so will hope to get their first 3 points by using their home advantage. New signing Karim El-Ahmadi should start, and key players such as Jordy Clasie and Jean-Paul Boetius will hope to guide their team to victory on Thursday. Despite this, they may struggle against a strong Standard Liege team who currently sit at the top of Group G. Similar to Sevilla, Liege won 2-0 at home, this time against Rijeka. They also have no injury concerns, so the fixture is set to be a tight affair.

Prediction: Feyenoord 1-1 Standard Liege
