Scotland will be without Grant Hanley for Tuesday's European qualifier against Poland. The 22 year-old picked up a knee injury in the 1-0 win over Georgia in Group D on saturday, forcing him to withdraw from the squad travelling to Warsaw. The Blackburn defender had formed an impressive partnership with Norwich's Russell Martin under Gordon Strachan but a replacement is now needed.

Gordon Greer of Brighton is the most logical stand-in, partnering Russell Martin at centre-back when Scotland beat Poland 1-0 in Warsaw 8 months ago; although they never had a certain Robert Lewandowski to deal with that evening. Ipswich's Christophe Berra and Aberdeen's Mark Reynolds, who is yet to earn an International cap, are both other possible candidates to replace Hanley.

Poland moved top of the group following Saturday's shock 2-0 win over world champions Germany, but Scotland were arguably unlucky to take points off them as well. Scotland have won away to Croatia, Norway and Macedonia under Strachan, and Russell Martin says morale in the camp is high:

"We have had a lot of matches like the one we will get on Tuesday over the last 18 months and the way we have dealt with them has been brilliant," commented Martin.

"If we can keep that level up I'm confident we can get a result. Mentally it is a boost that we have already been to Poland this year and won. We know we can go there and do it. They had a couple of players missing on that night, but the way we are playing at the minute, we can be confident of going anywhere and putting in a performance that we can be proud of.

"The manager is always on to us that he wants us to put in a showing that we can be proud of. We did that against Georgia and we have to do the same against Poland on Tuesday."
