Goals from Adam Maher, Memphis Depay, Jorrit Hendrix, Giorginio Wijnaldum and a Christian Kum ensured that the league leaders destroyed Utrecht.

Maher got the scoring underway on 12 minutes, converting from a Jetro Willems cross. Mark van der Maarel was shown a shock second yellow card after 25 minutes for bringing down Memphis Depay in the box and the teenager made no mistake from the spot and doubled PSV's lead.

Things went from bad to worse for the hosts just two minutes later when Hendrix made it three, converting after the Utrecht goalkeeper had parried his original shot.

Just after half-time, Utrecht pulled one back with a stunning Ruud Boymans header and it looked to be staying at 3-1 until defender Kum deflected a Willems cross into his own net.

Wijnaldum completed the rout with a few minutes to go, converting after a Luciano Narsingh through-ball.

Phillip Cocu's side stay comfortable at the top of the table, while Utrecht fall to 13th.
