Throughout this article we’ll take a look at four huge games in the Eredivisie this weekend, all of which take place on Saturday. The games are as follows: Ajax v Dordrecht, Twente v Heerenveen, Feyenoord v Zwolle and PSV v Den Haag. All 4 contests promise to be scintillating and eventful, with Feyenoord v Zwolle being the stand-out tie.

Ajax v Dordrecht

The Dutch champions are paid a visit by 17th place Dordrecht, who have lost 5 out of their 6 last league games and only sit two points above bottom side Heracles Almelo. Ajax, however, are 4 points off the pace as they sit soundly in second place. Their form has been impressive, winning 4 out of their last 6 games and drawing the other two. After a shaky start to the season, the champions are finally finding their feet and repeating the incredible form which they demonstrated last season. Their revitalisation is mainly due to summer loan addition Arkadiusz Milik. The Polish target man has scored or assisted a goal every 38 minutes for Ajax this season, and has been pivotal to their recent successes. To get anything from the game, the away side will have to keep tabs on Milik and El Ghazi, as the Dutch youngster scored Ajax’s only goal in their Champions League tie against Barcelona and has shown decent composure in front of goal. Personally, I can’t see the home side dropping any points this weekend as they hope to reinforce their recent application of pressure on league leaders PSV.

Prediction: Ajax 4-1 Dordrecht

Twente v Heerenveen

Last weekend, Twente were left shell-shocked after a surprise defeat to Excelsior. The home side will hope to swiftly eradicate this from their memory and pick up all 3 points against a decent outfit on Saturday. However, this is easier said than done. High flying Heerenveen drew against Zwolle last weekend with Daley Sinkgraven’s scooped assist being the clear highlight of the game. The 19-year-old’s spectacular piece of skill sent shockwaves around social media and it seemed as if his own teammates were stunned after it. Heerenveen sit in 5th place in the table, one place below the Europa League qualification spots which they aspire to achieve. Twente, however, are 8th in the table but only a mere point separates the two sides. The stage is set and a win for either side could catapult them to as high as third in the table. This game should offer some spectacular football from the likes of Ziyech and Sinkgraven, making this a mouth-watering fixture.

Prediction: Twente 1-2 Heerenveen

Feyenoord v Zwolle

Feyenoord welcome PEC Zwolle to De Kuip on Saturday to partake in the stand-out fixture of match-week 11. In-form side Feyenoord have won all of their last 4 league games, and they have rocketed up to third in table. They sit one place above opponents Zwolle, who have seemed to fade away after their incredible start to this season’s campaign. The away side haven’t won any of their last 3 games and will need to be on their toes to stop Feyenoord, who are finally beginning to find some form after a dreary start to the season. Both sides have 17 points in the league and this game could be crucial in determining where the teams finish come the end of the season. After comparing their recent results, Feyenoord clearly have the better chance of stealing three points from the KNVB Cup holders.

Prediction: Feyenoord 3-2 Zwolle

PSV v Den Haag

League leaders PSV welcome ADO Den Haag to the Philips Stadion with open arms this weekend, as this should be an easy three points for the most impressive team so far in the Eredivisie. I emphasise the word should due to Den Haag winning last week for the first time since August, which could possibly spur them on to take down the Dutch giants. Saturday could mark the return of Memphis Depay, PSV’s most-valued player so far this season. The winger has contributed massively to the team and has generally been a catalyst to their recent successes. After only 10 games, the home side have a miraculous goal difference of +22 and the return of Depay will leave the Den Haag defence quaking in their boots. Although we all love a fairytale shock result, it’s hard to foresee anything but another PSV thumping in store for Den Haag.

Prediction: PSV 5-0 Den Haag
