Tunisia will face hosts Equatorial Guinea in the second quarter-final of the African Cup of Nations, and coach Georges Leekens is aware of the threat they pose.

65-year-old Leekens, currently in his 21st spell as a manager, knows the tie will not be easy, with Equatorial Guinea having stepped up to the mark, despite being given little chance prior to the tournament.

Remaining unbeaten, the hosts had to settle for second, with draws against Congo and Burkina Faso followed by a pivotal 2-0 victory over Gabon on Sunday; courtesy of goals from Javier Balboa and Iban Salvador.

Tunisia are also yet to taste defeat in the tournament, currently ranked 22nd in the world having clinched the trophy 11 years ago. A single win and two draws allowed the Eagles to soar into the knockout stages, who are now preparing for what Leekens feels is their toughest challenge to date.

"We know we are not the best or the most beautiful, but we have qualified and I am very happy. We saw their [Equatorial Guinea's] match [against Gabon], the joy, we heard the car horns.

"They have a balanced team with a lot of pace up front. It won't be easy because they were fantastic. I am happy for the country, but now we want to qualify.

"It will be difficult because they will have the fans behind them, but I am quite confident. I try to be positive in any circumstance."

With Tunisia netting four goals throughout the tournament, only Algeria have scored more. Ahmend Akaichi puts claim to those of two, and is the obvious threat in the last-eight clash.

Considerable underdogs Equatorial Guinea are currently ranked 118th in the world, but Spanish-born midfielder Juvenal Edjogo-Owono does not take that into consideration.

"Our power now is that we are a united team. In 2012, we had so many players who were not from our country and the fans were not happy about this and did not take as much pride as they now do about the national team."

The two nations last met in qualifying for the 2014 World Cup, with the former securing a 3-1 victory on home soil and 1-1 draw on the away trip.
