After a woeful World Cup, England have upped their game to remain unbeaten across friendlies and qualifiers since bowing out of the tournament in disappointing style.

365 days since their first World Cup game in Manaus against Italy, regret has filled the English football fans hearts over such a dreadful time in Brazil

Yet, now, Roy Hodgson's side have proved themselves to be improving. Call ups for new players across the year have taken the squad to seven victories and two draws.

The only mark on their purple patch is two draws. After beating sides they are expected to beat, England faced Italy and failed to come away from the Turin Stadium with a win.

Their most recent game was a drab draw against Republic of Ireland, showing that despite a turn in form, England can still fail to show up for games.

A game against Slovenia is the perfect chance for them to get back to winning ways after two consecutive draws, but the more important factor is that they could be just a few points away from securing a place in the 2016 European Championships in France.

Slovenia have reached the European Championship finals just once, in 2000 and were knocked out of the group stages. Next year's tournament is their best chance to be with the big boys in Europe.

With half of qualifying gone now, England are almost certain to be in France next year while Slovenia are just six points off the group leaders, level on points with Switzerland.

They opened the route to France with a loss against Estonia but have beaten Switzerland, Lithuania and San Marino without conceding.

Roy Hodgson is expected to experiment with his starting eleven, with Andros Townsend, of Tottenham Hotspur, in line for a start ahead of Liverpool's Adam Lallana

Arsenal's Kieran Gibbs is also preparing to start for the Three Lions instead of Southampton's Ryan Bertrand as England welcome Fabian Delph again. The Aston Villa captain missed England's game in Dublin against Republic of Ireland after picking up a knock against Arsenal in the FA Cup Final at the end of May.

Squad debutantes Jamie Vardy and Charlie Austin will be hoping for more time, with the former only coming on as a substitute and the latter failing to make an appearance from the substitutes bench.
