Aron Winter's Netherlands U19 side will look to start the U19 European Championships in Greece after a strong qualifying campaign.

The Young Orange side know that they are not the favourites but are certainly expected to be in contention for a place in the final four.

To start their tournament off, they face a free-scoring Russian side who maintained a 100% record in their six qualifying matches leading up to this tournament.

The first game of youth tournaments often prove tight affairs as both teams find their feet, but with the Netherlands scoring 18 times in qualifying and Russia scoring 24 times, it could provide a game full of goals.

QUALIFYING

Netherlands

Winter's youngsters come into Greece knowing they have been utterly outstanding in qualifying.

They opened their road to the finals with a huge 7-0 victory over Andorra in September, as Abdelhak Nouri and Donny van de Beek both scored twice.

Another clean sheet was kept against Moldova a month later and they romped to another big victory, this time three were put past the opposition.

Against Poland three days later, they finally faced a bit of challenge but finished 2-1 winners thanks to goals from Nouri and Issa Kallon. This was a much tighter affair but it proved that the young orange could do two things; come back from a goal defecit, and show grit to get a result, instead of galloping to victory with ease.

Serbia, champions at U19 level in 2012/13, were overcome as well, Heerenveen's Pelle van Amersfoort scoring the only goal in the first half. It was a very even game aside from van Amersfoort's goal, and the Netherlands were frustrated by that, committing foul after foul to grab the win.

Norway took away Holland's winning streak late in March, with qualification looking extremely likely. Morten Konradsen, again, forced the Orange to come back from behind but that they did, with Riechedly Bazoer, one of the brighest talents in football, leveling it up with ten minutes to go.

The last game before the real tournament was a 4-0 romp of Switzerland, back to the best for the Netherlands who now come into the Euros on a high with much to look forward to, thanks a squad with a brilliant manager and a big sense of unity.

Russia

Anything the Netherlands could do, Russia made it even better.

Their Turkmentistani coach, Dmitri Khomukha, guided them to six wins out of six

As the Netherlands beat Andorra 7-0, Russia had their own superb seven, as the Faroe Islands took a big beating from the Russians who had six different scorers.

Northern Ireland's U19 side have never fared brilliantly and a 5-2 defeat to Russia was a traditional way to ensure that hopes were low of qualifying for the European Championships. Ramil Sheydaev scored another brace, having netted twice against the Faroe Islands, to take his qualifying total up to four goals.

The Czech Republic also lost by three goals but this time Russia kept a clean sheet as once more, an awesome Sheydaev, scored twice.

Sheydaev had already made sure that he would end qualifying with an average of at least one goal per game, with six already netted, but he didn't want to stop there. Against Belgium in March, Rifat Zhemaletdinov was the only scorer, the first time Sheydaev hadn't got his name on the scoresheet.

Determined to make up for missed time, Russia netted six past Lithuania and both Sheydaev and Zhemaletdinov scored braces.

Sweden were the last to face the incredible attacking power of Russia, and Sheydaev ensured it was all high fives at the end of qualifying with another two goals to make it ten goals in six games, all won by Russia.

Who to look out for

Netherlands

Bilal Ould-Chikh - Benfica's new signing is just 18 years old and there is a reason they paid over a million pounds for him. After a fantastic U17 European Championships, he made 15 appearances in the Eredisivie last season. They weren't stunning starts to his first team career but his calmness on the ball have earned him the right to be one of the player's to look out for, he controls the Netherlands midfield with ease and should do so again, as he did in qualifying.

Abdelhak Nouri - Five goals in qualifying and two assists, sitting in midfield. An ability that is shown in Andres Iniesta is his talent to make his way out of small spaces, find the pass in a splitsecond before continuing his run to ensure his team are always near the goal.

Russia

Ramil Sheydaev The easiest choice known to man is to start Sheydaev for this Russia side. Ten goals in six qualifying games in something that only the most talented can do, and even then, it is a rare event. His finishing skills, ability to be in the right place at the right time, read the defenders in front of him and eventually score are unmatched in his own nation, and he should tear up this tournament. Another thing to note, he made five assists in qualifying as well.

Rifat Zhemaletdinov - The perfect partner for Sheydaev. He contributed another five goals in qualifying, making their partnership add up to 15 goals in six games. Stunning pairing that is destined to make the teams in Group B work their socks off to stop a constant barrage of goals.
