Following a move back to France, new PSG man Benjamin Stambouli is buoyant following a difficult year in the English capital.

The Frenchman made only four Premier League starts and despite featuring heavily in cup competitions, made little impact at Spurs. However, Stambouli, who joined the French champions from Tottenham on Tuesday has insisted that his spell at White Hart Lane was not a waset of his time, stating that he played in some "important" matches with "great players".

However, he did admit that he would have liked further game time under Argentine boss Mauricio Pochettino. Stambouli admitted that while he played in both the FA Cup and Europa League, he would have liked to have had further playing time in other competitions. The midfielder stated that he has numerous good memories of playing in England, and that the experience has made him "stronger".

Stambouli may have similar struggles in Paris, as the club have plenty of depth in Stambouli's position, with highly rated midfielders Blaise Matuidi, Marco Verrati and Adrien Rabiot all prominent in PSG's midfield.

This high competition for places drove Crystal Palace's new signing Yohan Cabaye to look for a move away from the Parc des Princes club.

It has been cynically suggested that PSG's interest in Stambouli stemmed from their need for another Frenchman to fulfill their homegrown players quota, following the departure of Cabaye.

However, Stambouli in his official presentation on Thursday was not bothered by those questioning his ability: "It's not hurtful," he said, as he believes that the club's faith in his abilities is what matters.

Stambouli made his PSG bow in midweek against Fiorentina after starting the match. He will be also hoping to feature against Chelsea on Saturday night in the International Champions Cup match, in a repeat of the tie which saw Chelsea eliminated from this year's UEFA Champions League.
