Paris Saint-Germain have completed their fifth major signing of the summer transfer window, to sign AS Monaco's highly-rated left-back Layvin Kurzawa for a reported transfer fee of £17.5million pounds.

Having already spent around £65m on transfer arrivals in Paris thus far, Kurzawa's signature is not only a signal of intent for their aspirations in Europe, but their eagerness to develop young talent within their ranks.

Kurzawa signs as Digne goes out on-loan

Lucas Digne, who's the same age as Kurzawa, officially joined Serie A side AS Roma on a loan deal on Wednesday afternoon - and he'll be hoping to get regular first-team action with Maxwell being preferred to him in the left-back berth at the Parc des Princes.

Ángel di María, Serge Aurier (permanent), Benjamin Stambouli and Kevin Trapp all joined in respective acquisitions, and Laurent Blanc has strengthened efficiently in their weaker areas of the pitch.

PSG continue to strengthen

Having joined PSG on a five-year contract deal, Kurzawa has already played six matches this term. Three in Ligue 1, and three UEFA Champions League qualification games, he's netted three goals too.

A fast, attack-minded full-back who knows how to create opportunities for his team-mates, he'll be hoping to establish himself as a mainstay for Les Parisiens. That'll be easier said than done though, because the 34-year-old has been consistently solid over the past eighteen months and has been rewarded for that.

Kurzawa a quality acquisition

Kurzawa's got plenty of potential to fulfill, and joining the best club in the league highlights his want for success at the highest level. Coincidentally enough, although there was rumoured interest from other European clubs, Layvin was expected to stay at Monaco for another year.

His ever-impressive performances earned him a place in the Ligue 1 Team of the Week two weeks in a row. Here's what he had to say on his first interview in his new colours:

"I am very happy! I've got a lot of work to do - the project at the club is the reason why I am here, PSG is a very big club and it was too hard to refuse. There are plenty of stars here, very good players, at a side challenging for trophies every year. With big ambitions, which I'll be a part of."
