The draw for the last 32 of the Coupe de France, France's equivalent to the FA Cup, was made this evening and subsequently produced some fabulous ties.

The draw, which took place at Nice's Allianz Riviera on Monday evening, ensured that four Ligue 1 sides would come up against each other.

These ties will be played on either the 19th or 20th January depending on the league fixtures from the previous weekend.

Ligue 1 encounters

Runaway leaders and holders Paris Saint-Germain made it to this stage due to a narrow 1-0 away win over ES Wasquehal and they will encounter Toulouse at the Parc des Princes. Ligue 1's runaway leaders are likely to advance further in the competition with their opposition struggling at the bottom of France's top division, sitting in 19th place.

PSG advanced with a 1-0 win.

Other all-Ligue 1 fixtures include high-flying Angers taking on Willy Sagnol's Bordeaux, inconsistent Marseille facing an improving Montpellier side and an on-form GFC Ajaccio play Guingamp.

Lower league sides and potential upsets

The lowest ranked sides left in the cup, US Granville and Sarreguemines, face off with one another for a place in the last 16. Both come from the Championnat de France amateur 2, France's fifth division. US Granville advanced to this stage courtesy of a tight 2-1 win over Ligue 2 side Laval. As for Sarreguemines, they overcame Valenciennes FC, again of Ligue 2, 1-0.

Monaco recorded the highest win of the previous round, recording an impressive 10-2 victory against minnows Saint-Jean Beaulieu, and they go on to face Evian Thonon Gaillard at home. The latter were relegated from Ligue 1 last season but are struggling in Ligue 2, failing to win in their last five league encounters.

Second division side Bourg-en-Bresse Peronnas, who made the draw after seeing off FC Mulhouse 3-1 away from home, will face either Nice or Rennes. Bourg-en-Bresse are impressing critics after being promoted to Ligue 2 this summer due to their goalscoring exploits, helped by nine-goal Pape Sane. The club made it to the same stage of the Coupe de la Ligue, overcoming Ligue 2 leaders Nancy and Nantes before a 3-2 loss at the hands of Marseille.

Another interesting tie pits first division outfit AS Saint-Etienne against second division side AC Ajaccio. Elsewhere, Ligue 1 sides FC Nantes and FC Lorient both face tricky away trips to FC Mantois and USCO Boulogne respectively.

There is also an all-CFA tie between US Sarre Union and Chamios Niortais, which gives one of these teams a great chance of progressing through to the last eight of the Coupe de France.
