Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain will look to get back on track against Angers in a clash of two teams in the top three of the table.

The last time these two teams met it was before Christmas and they drew 0-0, meaning both teams will be looking to do better in this fixture.

Form

PSG maybe cruising in terms of points in Ligue 1, but they have looked shaky in their past two games.

Up 21 points on second place Monaco, who only have 36 points compared to PSG's 57, they have had some close wins in the past week.

They narrowly beat Toulouse with a second half header from Zlatan Ibrahimovic the only difference in the match.

They then had another close game with Toulouse in the French Cup as they narrowly won 2-1 just three days later.

Again it was Ibrahimovic who came up with the matchwinner as he scored a penalty in the 89th minute to help PSG advance to the next round.

After this fixture, PSG face Toulouse again in the French League Cup and then play ASSE in Ligue 1 action next week.

While PSG have surely secured the first spot, the rest of the spots for European qualification are up for grabs and Angers are right in the midst.

The newly-promoted sit third in the table, only two points behind second place Monaco. But only three points separate them and sixth place Rennes.

After PSG, it's a wide open race to see who qualifies for next season's Champions League and Europa League, so Angers will have to look to keep their form or face dropping down several spots.

Angers opened their return from the winter break with a 2-0 win over Caen but lost in their most recent fixture to OGC Nice, who sit right behind them in the standings. They also lost to Bordeaux in the French Cup midweek.

This has been a dream season for Angers so far, as most newly-promoted teams don't get past mid-table, but they are proving everyone wrong at the moment.

Team News

PSG had a depleted squad in midweek and may have one in this game. Captain Thiago Silva, Marco Verratti, Javier Pastore, and Marquinhos all did not play and the status of all these players are still up in the air.

Backup goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu picked up a thigh injury in the game but it won't be a problem as first-choice 'keeper Kevin Trapp is expected to start in this game.

Angers will be missing the likes of Yohann Eudeline, Thomas Mangani and Ferebory Dore who are all out due to injury.

What They're Saying

"They have some very good players, who are incredibly dangerous on the counter-attack. We have to be wary of their quick breaks," said PSG left back Layvin Kurzawa to PSG's offical website (via Goal.com). The former Monaco man has some truth to his words as Angers have suprised many by springing on the counter and may catch the league leaders off guard.

"We have to get through this month of January, which is difficult with this crazy schedule," said PSG manager Laurent Blanc to reporters (via RFI English). PSG have a packed fixture schedule coming up, and with the Champions League knockout rounds right around the corner, it's about to get a whole lot more crazy.
