Germany have been one of several fancied nations at this tournament who have yet to show they are worthy of the title, but this was their most impressive performance yet. Albeit not yet at their best and against a lower-ranked team, they brought their cutting edge with them today and are in the last eight.
With Boateng taken off with time to spare and no players picking up their second yellows of the tournament today, it seems Löw will have a full squad ready for that heavyweight clash though, whoever it may be.
Full time. A straight forward and easy win for Germany over the best third-placed side at Euro 2016. They will face the winner of Italy - Spain in the last eight, a game that will be played tomorrow evening.
90' + 2 - Germany have a free-kick down on the left wing after Kucka brought down Özil, picking up a booking that would rule him out of a quarter-final that won't come for Slovakia. Kroos takes the kick, but it sails out for a goal kick.
90' + 1 - Chance! Müller breaks down the right and cuts the ball back for Kroos, but his effort is well saved by Kozá?ik.
90 - There will be two minutes of added time.
89 - Germany enjoying themselves out there as some lovely football ends with Hector's cross-cum-shot sailing wide.
85 - Slovakia still trying to pick up at least a consolation, but Hamsik is caught offside. Germany comfortably seeing this out.
84 - Slovakia's final change of the day sees Salata replace Gyömbér at the back.
81 - Lovely dink by Kimmich finds Podolski, who brings the ball down on his chest and strike it at goal, but for Kozá?ik to deny him with his feet. The offside flag goes up seconds later, though replays suggest that wasn't the right decision.
76 - Schweinsteiger comes on for Khedira in Germany's final change of the day.
72 - Double change for the Germans. Höwedes replaces Boateng while Draxler comes off for Podolski.
67 - Mats Hummels becomes the second German player to go into the book today, taking out substitute Sestak.
64 - Slovakia's response to that goal is a substitution, as Sestak replaces Duris.
63 - GOAL! And Germany wrap things up with a third! Draxler is the scorer, volleying in Hummels' header from a corner brilliantly. Great technique, lovely finish. Game over at 3-0.
58 - Tame start to this half. Free-kick for Germany in a good position sees Hamsik tee up Kucka, but he slices his shot wide.
50 - Hrosovsky tries his luck with a sweet strike, but Neuer watches it all the way and holds it.
46 - Early yellow card in this second half for young Kimmich.
And we're back underway for the second half. Slovakia have made a change at the break, with Weiss off and Gregus on.
A totally dominant first half performance from the much-fancied Germans sees them comfortable and deservedly in the lead. Slovakia have offered little aside from Duris' header.
HT - GERMANY 2-0 SLOVAKIA (Boateng 8', Gomez 43')
43 - Superb play from Julian Draxler sees him skip past two Slovakian defenders before sliding a ball into the near post. Mario Gomez is there, and turns the pass expertly into the back of the net. 2-0.
PUSH THE BUTTON! GOMEZ MAKES IT TWO!
41 - What a save! Manuel Neuer reaches out to stop what looked to be a certain goal, tipping over Duris' header from close range after Pekarik's cross.
39 - Draxler has been really lively in this one, as he fires another shot wide. Not long until the break now, Germany will be hoping to grab a second.
37 - Both are on again as Draxler attempts to skip past Pekarik, but the defender does well to shut him down.
35 - A nasty clash of heads between Müller and Skrtel has left both on the floor, but the pair seem to be okay.
32 - Müller next to try his luck after good play from Arsenal's main man, but his shot flies well over.
29 - Julian Draxler goes on a mazy run before eventually seeing his cross cut out by Skrtel at the near post.
28 - A poor miss from Müller as he mistimes his jump, seeing his header fly well over the bar.
26 - No rest for Slovakia here as Khedira thumps an effort at the body of Skrtel.
23 - Lovely move by Germany as Hummels threads in Hector, but his cross is claimed by Kozá?ik.
19 - A sudden bit of pressure from Slovakia is dealt with by Hummels, who cuts out Weiss' low cross. Neuer then claims the ball that is lifted back in.
18 - Germany keeping the pressure up as Skrtel's headed clearance is struck by Özil, but it's sliced well wide of the goal.
16 - All Germany in these opening stages. Gomez finds half a yard to shoot in the box, but sees his effort blocked. The move is recycled and ends with Kroos' volley being scuffed wide.
14 - Save! Özil looks cool and composed but his finish is tame and Kozá?ik parries it away!
13 - Penalty! Germany have a chance to double their lead as Skrtel shoves Gomez to the ground as he leaps to head a cross. Easy decision for the referee, and the defender will miss the quarter-final if Slovakia make it there.
8 - GOAL! What a goal! The man who was a doubt, Boateng latches onto the ball as Kroos' corner is headed away and volleys it perfectly into the bottom corner! An almost identical strike to Luka Modri?'s for Croatia earlier this tournament, against Turkey. Germany 1-0 up!
7 - Save! Khedira rises to meet it and Kozá?ik is forced to tip it over the bar!
6 - Good change of pace from Draxler sees him brought down by Gyömbér on the right wing. Kroos will whip the ball in from the free-kick.
As expected, Germany start with plenty of possession. Slovakia are sat deep, looking to catch them on the break after soaking up the pressure.

Germany predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Neuer; Kimmich, Boateng, Hummels, Hector; Kroos, Khedira; Müller, Özil, Götze; Gomez.
For Germany, Jérôme Boateng is their only doubt. Boateng was substituted early into the Northern Ireland game with a calf problem, and Löw told the media after the match that he believes he "took him off early enough" for him to recover for this last 16 tie. In his pre-match presser this week, the manager then revealed the player "took part in training and had no complaints," therefore he expects him to be fit for selection.
The only bad news then is that defender Švento looks set to miss out, with Ba?alík saying the team "don't want to risk injury" to him and therefore would "prefer him not to play."
Meanwhile, Mak has been training hard all week to recover in time for this clash, with Slovakia's team doctor Ján Ba?alík saying that he will be good to go today. "The second visit at the hospital showed us no muscle damage," he told UEFA.com. "We fixed it and he will be usable too."
The good news is that Pekarík will be fine to feature. The defender was expected to wear a mask, having done so when he broke it before, but has refused to do so, telling UEFA.com: "When I broke it before, I had a mask on my face for three minutes before I had to take it off, as it was disturbing me." Instead, he will be wearing a "special cover" this time which has been "specially taped."
For Ján Kozák's side though, there are a few doubts in his squad for this side, which could hinder their chances of replicating that pre-Euro victory. Winger Róbert Mak has a hamstring problem, Peter Pekarík has damaged a previously broken nose and Dušan Švento has a muscular injury.
Slovakia, on the other hand, progressed as one of the best third-placed teams - the best, in fact. A victory over Russia and a goalless draw with England was enough to see them move out of Group B, having recovered well from a defeat to Wales in their opener.
Something that proves this is the two highly contrasting paths the pair have taken to the last 16. Germany, the obvious favourites to win today, did as was expected as they progressed as Group C's winners. They did so in unbeaten fashion too, downing both Ukraine and Northern Ireland either side of a goalless draw with Poland, who finished second.
The most interesting thing pre-match is that Slovakia actually beat Germany in the build up to Euro 2016, winning 3-1 in a friendly. However, we all know that Joachim Löw's side are tournament team who know how to win when it matters.
