Japanese international, Shinji Okazaki, has joined Mainz for an undisclosed transfer fee from VFB Stuttgart.

Mainz coach, Thomas Tuchel, has expressed his satisfaction with the signing, after the forwards impressive displays for Japan at the Confederations Cup, in which he scored two goals: "We are pleased that Okazaki has decided to join us [Mainz]. He has attributes which are very important to the way we play."

Okazaki made 63 appearance for Stuttgart scoring 10 goals in the process and has a very impressive goal scoring rate of one in every other game for his national side. The forward has signed a three year deal.
