Bayern Munich defeated Manchester City, courtesy of goals from Thomas Muller and Mario Mandzukic, to lift the Audi Cup.

Bayern almost broke the deadlock just two minutes into the game. A wonderful through ball from right to left, from Robben found Ribery just inside the penalty area; his subsequent low shot however, was well saved by Man City's second choice keeper, Pantilimon. The Man City goalkeeper was called into action once again, this time by a long range Toni Kroos effort, and he once again came out on top as he punched the ball away from the danger area.

Although the Bavarian's were controlling the game, they had very little to show for it. In the 28th minute Robben cut in from the right hand side and unleashed a venomous shot on goal. Unfortunately for the home side, Pantilimon was on hand to push the ball away from his near post.

Man City had their first sight on goal just a few minutes later. Like Robben, Stevan Jovetic cut in from a wide position and had an effort on goal. His shot however, pulled just wide of the post. Negredo then had their best opportunity of the game for Man City. After a brilliant cross field ball from Fernandinho, Nasri chipped the ball into Negredo at the near post. The new signing was unable to gain any real purchase on the header, so Neuer was able to collect the ball comfortably.

The first chance of the second half fell to Nasri in the 48th minute, after a sublime through ball from Clichy. The French full back's pass found Nasri 15 yards from goal in a one on one situation. His subsequent shot however, was well saved by Neuer, who came out quickly to narrow the angle.

Negredo, once again, had a glorious chance to give his new side the lead. After a brilliant cross from fellow Spanish international, Jesus Navas, Negredo headed the ball goalward with tremendous power; however he was unable to direct the ball either side of Neuer, who palmed the ball away with ease.

It was third time lucky for Negredo on the hour mark, as he scored the first goal of the game. A quick counter attack led to the former Sevilla forward finding himself in running towards goal with Martinez hot on his tail. Negredo was able to outmuscle Javi Martinez and proceed into the penalty area, before rifling the ball into the far left corner.

Bayern Munich were given a root back into the game, after the referee adjudged Zabaleta's handball to be deliberate. From the resulting penalty, Thomas Muller cooly side footed the ball into the botttom right corner, sending Pantilimon the wrong way in the process.

The home side took the lead in the 73rd minute through Mandzukic. From the right wing, Thomas Muller curled an outstanding ball to the ball post, where Mandzukic stooped to head the ball into the bottom corner.

Mandzukic looked bright when he came off the bench. After a deft first touch inside the penalty area, the former Wolfsburg forward volleyed the ball off the post.

Edin Dzeko missed a great chance to level the game with just two minutes to go. James Milner's high through ball found Dzeko in the box, but after he controlled the ball with his knee and had an effort on goal, Neuer tipped the ball around the post brilliantly.
