German under-21 international, Emre Can, has officially signed for Bayer Leverkusen on a four year deal. The transfer fee is, as of yet, undisclosed.

Speaking after the move was completed, Emre Can expressed his desire to establish himself as a European, as well as a Bundesliga footballer: “Bayer 04 Leverkusen are one of the top teams in the Bundesliga and they are also in the Champions League. I want to play my part in making sure we’re successful in all competitions in the coming seasons.”

Leverkusen directer, Rudi Voller stated that Frankfurt native will be given an opportunity to develop at the club: “Emre Can is a versatile player with great potential and he’s bound to develop here with us.”

Former club, Bayern Munich, have retained a buy back option for the player in the hope of using it within the next few years, according to Bayern's chairman, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge: " we’ve taken this step to ensure he gains sufficient match practice, as we’ve done in the past with the likes of Toni Kroos in Leverkusen, Philipp Lahm with VfB Stuttgart and David Alaba in Hoffenheim.”

The 19 year old made just four appearances for Bayern Munich, scoring one goal in the process. He was awarded the Fritz Walter medal for the best German youth player in 2011.
