Broussia Dortmund - Werder Bremen

This was another match which Dortmund dominated in terms of possession and shots on target, but again they failed to take their chances. The only goal came again in the second half with a goal from Robert Lewandowski to keep Klopp’s 100% winning start intact.

It was much like the performance against Eintracht Braunschweig with Dortmund slaughtering their opponent but only managing to score the one goal. Marco Reus was the stand out player again in this match, but early signs are showing that Dortmund might not be able to keep up with the might of Bayern Munich, again. As for Werder Bremen, it was another toothless performance and they could be part of a relegation battle this season. Final score, Broussia Dortmund 1 Werder Bremen 0.

Bayer Leverkusen - Borussia Monchengladbach

On paper this was probably the tastiest looking game. Leverkusen were dominating the game from the off and eventually got their award when the referee pointed to the spot in the 23rd minute, which was slotted home by Kießling. Three minutes later it was 2-0, with Sam scoring the second.

You’d have thought Leverkusen would have gone on to score a few ore but it was a different story in the second half. Two goals from Stranzl in the 54th minute and Arango in the 57th minute seen Gladbach pull the score back to 2-2, game on. Three minute slater though Leverkusen scored again to make it 3-2, Sam with a double. The game was sealed for Leverkusen when Castro made it 4-2. Leverkusen keep up their 100% record whereas Gladbach have just 3 points from 9.

Bayern Munich - Nurnberg

This was expected to be a huge win for Bayern, but surprisingly they were unable to take any of their chances for a long period of the game. They dominated in terms of possession with 81%, and chance upon chance was created. It wasn’t until the 69th minute that Ribery opened the scoring, and then Robben all but sealed the result with an excellent individual goal in the 78th minute.

Bayern also missed a penalty as Alaba’s shot was saved by Raphael Schafer. The win extends Bayern's unbeaten run to 28 games dating back to last season, breaking an old club record. Nurnberg on the other hand are yet to record their first win, and have two points from the first three games.

Hannover 96 - Schalke 04

This was one of the uglier matches of the weekend’s games, which saw three players send off. The first sending off came as early as the 14th minute when Diouf was brought down by Howedes to give Hannover a penalty, in which Huszti converted to make it 1-0. As expected, Hannover dominated the remainder of the first half and got the second goal in the 42nd minute, Diouf the scorer.

Schalke then pulled a goal back in the 55th minute with a goal from Szalai. Hannover then had Huszti sent off, and nine minutes later Schalke were down to nine men when Fuchs was sent packing for a 2nd yellow card offence. Schalke’s early form is of concern, but Hannover have got off to a great start. Full time score, Hannover 2 Schalke 1.

Mainz - Wolfsburg

The first half was a half which could probably have sent you to sleep, nothing at all happening really, but this soon changed in the second half. Mainz took the lead in the 60th minute with a goal from Choupo-Moting, and four minutes later Wolfsburg were down to 10 men when Gustavo was sent off.

Muller then doubled Mainz lead making it 2-0 after 78 minutes and this was to be the final score. Mainz have now won 3 out of 3 with Wolfsburg only managing one win so far, losing the other two.

Hoffenheim - Freiburg

This was probably the most entertaining match over the weekend. It all started in the 10th minute when Hoffenheim were awarded a penalty, which was scored by Salihovic. Literally a minute later he was sent off for slapping Schuster. The game kept up the frantic pace when Sorg equalised in the 13th minute. Volland then put Hoffenheim ahead again with a goal in the 25th minute, before Freiburg quickly eqaulised 4 minutes later with a goal from Guede.

Coquelin then received his marching orders after receiving a second yellow card and it was 10 men each now. Freis then scored in the 65th minute to give Freiburg the lead for the first time in the match. But they couldn’t hold on as Strobl score in the 77th minute for Hoffenheim. In the dying seconds of the game, Freiburg were reduced to nine men when Mehmedi was shown a straight red card. Full time score, Hoffenheim 3 Freiburg 3. Hoffenheim have drawn two and won once, whereas this was Freiburg’s first point from the three games played so far.

Hertha Berlin - Hamburg

Newly promoted side Berlin continued to impress in this game, eventually seeing out a 1-0 win. It was the simplest of goals when Ramos tapped the ball into an open net in the 74th minute.

Not very much to report on this game, however that is now 7 points from 9 for Berlin, whereas Hamburg struggle on with just 1 point from a possible 9.

Eintracht Braunschweig - Eintracht Frankfurt

I feel sorry for Braunschweig a little bit; they’ve held their own in the games that they’ve played so far, including a close win last weekend for Dortmund. They seem to hold out until around the hour mark and then collapse, probably because they’ve been run ragged by the opponent!

Again, it was 0-0 at half time, albeit Frankfurt the better side. Frankfurt finally took the lead in the 52nd minute with a goal from Meier, and ten minutes later they doubled their lead this time Aigner the goal scorer. Braunschweig find themselves bottom of the league now, failing to take any points from the first three games, with Frankfurt picking up their first win of the campaign with a 2-0 victory over Braunschweig.

Augsburg - Stuttgart

These two teams have both failed to pick up any points in the opening two matches, but it didn’t look like this was the story of Augsburg when they took an early lead in the 6th minute with a goal from Altintop in the 6th minute. Augsburg continued to dominate the first half an hour and got their reward when Callsen-Bracker doubled the lead in the 36th minute.

Stuttgart pulled a goal back in the 42nd minute, when Ibisevic converted a penalty kick. In the 70th minute, a moment of controversy occurred when the referee wrongly sent off Stuttgart’s Traore. It was never in a million years a sending off, Toure had only been on the field for eight minutes after coming on as a substitute, but he looked just as bewildered as the rest of us. Augsburg held on to the 2-1 lead and recorded their first win of the campaign, whereas Stuttgart struggle on, losing all three games.
