Former Sunderland striker Ji-Dong Won is to join Borussia Dortmund.

The Korean international only made the permanent swith to Augsburg this week on a short term deal following a loan spell last season, but he will be moving on again once that deal expires.

Dortmund's sporting director Michael Zorc said: "Ji can play in various positions across the front line."

"We are happy to have signed this talented player on a costless transfer for next season."

The 22-year-old began his career with Chunnam Dragons in his homeland, before he was signed by Sunderland in 2011.

However, he only made 24 appearances for the Black Cats, scoring two goals, including a late winner over Manchester City.

Sunderland loaned Ji to Augsburg last season where he scored five goals in 17 appearances.

He returned to Sunderland at the end of the season but failed to nail down a place in the side, first under Paolo Di Canio and then under Gus Poyet, and returned to Augsburg until the end of this season.
