With Draxler being rumoured to be off to Arsenal in the summer and Reus being linked with a whole host of clubs, much has been made of the Bundesliga's attacking talent and most notably these two. However, while some onlookers focus upon the bigger players in the league, it has more than it's fair share of diamonds in the rough that could be taking Europe by storm in years to come. With Draxler and Reus not having their best season's, could there be better value for money elsewhere?

Alexandru Maxim - Stuttgart:

After a fine debut season last year for Stuttgart, the young Romanian has improved even further. This season, Maxim has become an integral part of the VfB side and has quickly matured into a leading attacking player for the team. The twenty-three year old has showcased his talents from the very start of the saeson, most notably putting in a man of the match performance in a six-two win over Hoffenheim. This game highlighted his impressive skill set. His direct dribbling style, shooting and passing were all on show as he helped himself to a brace of goals and assists. Also in possession of a wicked set-piece delivery, Maxim is a massive asset to Stuttgart and would be for any team he joins. In tandom with his dribbling and eye for a pass, Maxim has six assists to his name and creates a chance, on average, every eighteen minutes. A highly impressive set of stats made even more remarkable with four goals this term, the pick of which was a twenty-five yard curler against Hoffenheim. Maxim is the oldest of the players that will follow him in this list, even at just twenty-three, and would be just as useful as any player on the list. The Romanian is beginning to attract the interest his ability and form warrants and has a skillset capable of forcing himself into many teams around the continent, Stuttgart have a real gem on their hands.

Hakan Çalhanoglu - Hamburg

As a side, Hamburg have most definitely flattered to decieve this season. However, Çalhanoglu has provided them with a glimer of hope. The young Turk was linked was a move back to his homeland, with Turkish champions Galatasary rumoured to be very interested, but contract talks are said to be ongoing with HSV. Thrust into the limelight this season, Çalhanoglu made sure we all knew who he was when he planted a costless-kick into the top corner with essentially his first touch against Eintracht Braunschweig, he then went on to seal a brace in a four-nil win for HSV. Covering for Rafael van der Vaart for a fair proportion of the season, he has been a more than able replacement. He is yet another youngster with pin-point set-piece delivery and an eye for the spectacular, the twenty-year old quickly drew comparisons with himself and van der Vaart. He also has fantastic passing and vision, he never seems to lose the ball, which is impressive considering most of his passes are risky and trying to advance the play. As is the problem with HSV, they aren't clinical and can't defend, which leaves Çalhanoglu with just two assists despite creating eighty chances. Along with his passing, he also has a very important goal-scoring threat and has notched up five goals this term, with most being special strikes. With HSV showing relegation form at best and Galatasary sniffing around, the best of the Turk may, sadly, not be seen in the Bundesliga.

Roberto Firmino - Hoffenheim

The Brazilian attacker has gone from strength to strength this season for the Sinsheim side. Impressing from the very first game, Firmino has racked up nine goals and seven assists already. With potential suitors such as Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and a host of other major European clubs, the future looks bright for the twenty-two year old. Firmino combines dribbling, passing and finishing into one very deadly package. More than comfortable at scoring from range as he is from inside the box, the Brazilian has a knack of scoring all types of goals from the sublime to the relatively simple. The midfielder has the skill to match the substance, being able to drift past defenders with relative ease and then pick a pin-point pass to a team mate, he averages a chance created every eighteen and a half minutes, there is no reason why Firmino shouldn't be on the plane to Brazil this Summer. Hoffenheim did very well to keep him this January, but a move in the Summer seems absolutely inevitable. With Kevin Volland possibly on the move too, Hoffenheim could be put in a sticky situation if they don't replace them quickly. If anything, Firmino has been much more important to them and his goals, assists and determination will be sorely missed by the club.

Timo Werner - Stuttgart

Since coming into the Stuttgart side this season, Werner has joined Maxim in adding an irresistible youthful exuberance to the side. The baby faced seventeen year old has rejuvenated a lacklustre VfB team and more importantly took pressure off of Ibisevic and the aforementioned Maxim. Surprisingly strong, Werner can weave through defences with ease, aided by his direct style. For such a young man, his attacking runs set him apart from other young talents at his age, even Miroslav Klose would be proud of the positions he gets in. Becoming an increasing fixture in Thomas Schneider's side, he is becoming a regular threat in the scoring stakes, with four goals in the Hinrunde, he will be looking to at least double that tally in this half of the season. The young German also has four assists to his name, which is another feather in his cap. Werner recently said that he dreamt of being selected for the national team this year and if he keeps up his form and other pick up injuries, there's no reason for him not to go. A lot of people feel that Werner will naturally mature into a striker, thanks to his fantastic movement and natural finishing ability, Timo Werner could become a household name very soon.

Maximilian Arnold - Wolfsburg

'Maxi' announced himself to the Bundesliga at the tail end of last season, scoring an absolute cracker against Werder Bremen. Several months down the line and it's clear to see that Arnold has kicked on. With six goals this season, he has cemented himself in Hecking's side, especially now that Deigo has gone on loan to Atletico Madrid and seems the natural heir to the Brazilian's throne. Possessing a bullet-like left foot, Arnold is a massive danger from outside the box and requires the utmost attention from defences in the Bundesliga. As of yet, the young German seems to lack a real cutting edge pass, which may be why Arnold has been pushed back into the pivot and Kevin de Bruyne in the attacking midfield role, as the young German has just the solitary assist this season. However, he is creating a chance every nineteen minutes shows that it isn't through a lack of effort. Despite the loss of Julian Brandt and Federico Palacios-Martinez, the additions of de Bruyne and return of Junior Malanda shows 'the Wolves' have a real ambition and desire to build from youth, and there is no doubting Arnold's role in that respect.

Max Meyer - Schalke

Another 'Max' on the list and another star. At just eighteen, he has been a real bright spark in an otherwise dull and inconcsistent season for Schalke. A very slight and nibble figure, with a quick turn of foot and pace. This gives Meyer the ability to work and weave his way through any gap with the ball glued to his feet, while somehow managing to keep the ball whilst getting battered by six foot plus defenders. Also managing to chip in with a few useful goals, four to be exact, he scores goals you wouldn't expect a player of his frame to be scoring, as most have been tapping the ball home whilst being clattered by a defender. Also with an eye for a pass, Meyer is turning into a mini-Draxler. There is a lot of responsibility on his set young shoulders already, and with Draxler possibly moving on, there's a very high change he'll be Schalke's next shining light. The combination of Meyer and Goretzka will be crucial to S04's future, and the skill and guile of Meyer will arguably play the msot important part, along with Timo Werner he is probably the most impressive youngster in Germany.
