Hamburg now sit 17th in the Bundesliga, only four points ahead of strugglers Eintracht Braunschweig at the foot of the table. Drastic changes need to be made pronto. Despite seemingly having the better of the possession and the shots on goal across the ninety minutes, they really were put to the sword in their own backyard.

After testing Adler's goal early on on a few occasions, Hertha won a penalty after Westermann brought down Hajime Hosogai. Ramos stepped up, but Adler dived smartly and correctly, pushing the spotkick away.

Ramos made up for it shortly after however, as he nodded on the Hertha corner to the back post for Sami Allagui to open the scoring.

He then get onto the scoresheet himself to put his side two up, nodding home a beautifully whipped in costless kick inside the six yard box.

And Ramos all but wrapped up the game just before half time and rejoined Robert Lewandowski on the top of the scoring charts. After powerfully driving at the Hamburg defence, he calmly and cooly rolled the ball past Adler, following some fantastic link up play with Johannes van den Bergh.

Hertha Berlin now sit 7th in the standings and in an extremely good position. If they are seriously ready to compete for the 4th and final Champions League spot, an incredible target for a newly promoted team, yet very much achievable and deservedly so. They have certainly set themselves up well to do so. As for Hamburg, the struggle at the other end of the table continues. The target for this season will be to survive - which would mean they maintained their ever-present Bundesliga record.
