Wolfsburg are an incredible 4 points off 2nd place after an impressive 3-1 home win against Bayer Leverkusen in the late kick off yesterday in the Volkswagen Arena.

Sami Hyypia would have been looking for a reaction as his side were demolished 4-0 at home by PSG in the Champions League midweek, and his team didn't particularly play badly in this Bundesliga match up. Yet goals from Dost, Gustavo and Rodriguez secured all three points.

13 minutes in and Wolfsburg took the lead, Ivan Perisic squared across goal for Bas Dost to tap into an almost empty goal, with the scurrying Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno helpless.

Jens Hegeler pulled back a superbly weighted pass to fool the Wolfsburg defence, leaving Sidney Sam the time and space to finish camly under pressure with a nicely placed finish into the bottom corner on the stroke of half time.

Wolfsburg regained the lead with half an hour to go, Naldo's costless kick was blocked but deflected wide to Ivica Ollic, who played a delicious ball across the ground and across goal to allow Luiz Gustavo to tap in.

And they wrapped up the victory on 73 minutes, Daniel Caligiuri brought down inside the area, leaving Ricardo Rodriguez the opportunity. Leno guessed the right way and saved fown to his bottom left, however it sat up nicely for Rodriguez to power home at the 2nd time of asking.
