A brace from Thomas Müller helped Bayern Munich continue their march towards the Bundesliga title with a 4-0 victory away to Hannover.

Goals from Thiago Alcantara and Mario Mandzukic also helped secure three points for Pep Guardiola's men.

Bayern, having dropped just four points all season, came into the match full confidence, but the hosts made life difficult for the league leaders in the opening stages.

Artjoms Rudnevs had the chance to open the scoring with a quarter of an hour played, but Tom Starke, deputising for Manuel Neuer, recovered well to foil the Latvian.

It was a miss Hannover would come to rue ten minutes later, as Bayern took the lead with their first real chance of the match. Rafinha's cross picked out Müller in space in the penalty area, and he bulleted a header past Ron-Robert Zieler.

Bayern made it 2-0 nine minutes later. Bastian Schweinsteiger lofted a ball over the Hannover defence for Thiago, who controlled it well before firing past Zieler.

Half time: 0-2

Hannover could have pulled a goal back early in the second period, but Starke was able to deny Szabolcs Huszti.

Minutes later, Bayern extended their lead further. Mandzukic flicked David Alaba's cross into the path of Müller, who beat Zieler to score his second of the match.

Mandzukic wrapped up the scoring with 25 minutes still to play, heading Rafinha's cross beyond Zieler.

It was another comfortable win for Bayern, who now look to be coasting towards a second consecutive Bundesliga title. Meanwhile, the result means that Hannover remain in eleventh place, but they are now only five points above the relegation play-off place.
