After breaking his leg against Hertha Berlin, Koen Casteels underwent a two-hour operation last night, with his parents arriving to see him today. Hoffenheim said that the Belgian goalkeeper would be out of hospital on Wednesday and begin light rehabilitation in due course. The twenty-one year old had hoped to go to the World Cup in Brazil this summer, but with that ruled out, it is unsure when he’ll return to action.

The horror clash was with Hertha Berlin’s Adrian Ramos, who injured himself in the collision. The Columbian is feared to have torn a muscle in his thigh, but the capital club are hoping an MRI scan will shed more light on the situation.

Ramos has sixteen goals this term and his expected move to Borussia Dortmund is, according to BILD, going to be confirmed at some point before BVB’s Champions League second leg clash with Real Madrid on Wednesday.

The DFB are investigated comments made by Rudi Völler, following Bayer Leverkusen’s two-one defeat to Hamburg on Friday night. The game saw Sami Hyypiä sacked as their manager, was controversial in many ways, especially the dismissal of Leverkusen penalty appeals. Völler called referee Bastian Dankert the “13th man of HSV”.

The controlling body of German football have called upon him to make a statement, and then the DFB will decide on the course of action. Sascha Lewandowski was confirmed as Hyypiä’s successor until the end of the season, and rumours from BILD are that he will be joined by former Aachen coach Peter Hyballa.

After winning the Lower Saxony derby, Eintracht Braunschweig were dealt a blow today. Iranian shot-stopper Daniel Davari confirmed that he would not be extending his contract past the 30th of June. Davari hasn’t signed any pre-contract agreements as of now, the ‘keeper has been at the Lions since 2009 and played a massive part in the club’s rise through the divisions.

Mainz’ early season star, Nicolai Müller, is still none the wiser with his knee problems. The attacker from the Karnival club is unsure whether he’ll feature again this season, with Müller saying, “The physios have tried everything, but nothing has worked. I sensed something was wrong after the Augsburg game, I hope I can play against Bremen.” He will see a specialist this week, with Thomas Tuchel commenting, “I’ll be able to say more on Tuesday.”

Sebastian Rode, who will leave Eintracht Frankfurt this summer, is also unsure if he will feature again this season. The midfielder looks set to become a Bayern player, but hasn’t played since the end of February due to a problem with the cartilage in his right knee.

Also in Frankfurt, their captain has returned to training. Primin Schwegler has survived a broken nose and a fractured rib this season, whilst still playing on, but a recent illness stopped the midfielder in his tracks. "I could not even look the games of the team in part on television, so bad it went to me. Everything was too exhausting, I could only lie down. " said Schwegler.

Last Friday he had to finish driving after just ten minutes: "I had such a bad headache, it was brutal. I have expected too much of myself.” Yesterday Schwegler returned to training: "I'm glad I was able to sweat out the whole thing. Everything is back in order.” Whether it is in time for Friday against Schalke, he isn’t sure.
