Germany has a reputation for bringing through the youth team world-class keepers and that tradition is continuing with numerous young number 1’s in Bundesliga.1 and 2. Many legends have been German keepers for example; Oliver Kahn, Sepp Maier, Harald Schumacher and Jens Lehmann.

In 2012, Kevin Trapp transferred from Kaiserslautern to Eintracht Frankfurt. Since then the 23 year old hasn’t looked back. Yet to break into the German international team with the formidable shot stopper of Manuel Neuer, Trapp will certainly be in the national team in the near future.  He has also been linked with big money moves to the likes of Barcelona and recently to Juventus.

The 6ft2 shot stopper has made 23 appearances in the Bundesliga for die Adler, so far this season.  In his 23 appearances, 6 of them have been clean sheets. Kevin Trapp’s average saves per game was 2.91 and with a claim success of 94%.

One of Trapp’s strengths is his shot stopping whether its top corner shots or bottom corner shots, Kevin Trapp can save them. At only 23 he is one of the most promising goalkeepers in the Bundesliga. At one point in the season he was said to be the most exciting young prospect. He has the ability to pull off remarkable saves with his reflexes.

Another one of Kevin Trapp’s strengths is his one-on-ones making the goal as small as possible for the attacker to score and he does that with superb skill and timing. Not many keepers are as consistent at this as Kevin Trapp is, numerous times this season he has saved Eintracht Frankfurt with his one-on-one saving. His 6 ft 2 stature is key where he can stick a foot out to turn the shot past the post or stop being chipped after sliding out.

His third important strength is his agility, very rarely found in the world of goalkeepers to date.  Kevin Trapp has the ability to save a shot even when he is going the opposite way to the ball. This has been key to his success and partly which more and more top teams are looking into for their next number one. Most notably against Bayern Munich last season, where Ribery had a shot from the edge of the box and he had to adjust his body to save the shot, in the end Frankfurt only lost 2-0 where it could’ve been 5-0 without Trapp’s saves.
