Borussia Dortmund were looking to replicate their 2-0 win at Mage Solar Stadion like the season before.

In the early stages of the game, a costless kick was awarded to Borussia Dortmund at the edge of the box. Nuri Sahin’s effort made its way over the wall, but proved to be an easy catch for Oliver Baumann.

Freiburg's biggest chance came from Philipp Zulechner’s header, but it was punched away by Roman Weidenfeller. The rebound fell to Zulechner, but his rebound flew way over the bar.

Pierre Emerick Aubameyang peeled away from his marker but couldn’t get a touch on the advancing ball. Oliver Baumann gratefully clutched the ball.

Having recently been installed to the line-up for the absent Robert Lewandowski, Julian Sheiber beat three players, showing his intent. However, his cut back couldn’t find a teammate. A waste for the travelling Dortmund side.

Zulechner turned Mats Hummels and was brought down by Sokratis at the edge of the box; luckily he remained on the pitch - preventing further dismissals to a lacking Dortmund squad, commonly seen throughout the season.

Jonathan Schmid took the costless kick for Freiburg, as expected. However, it proved of little trouble and in all honesty, it was a poor atempt.

A poor first half for Borussia Dortmund. They rarely troubled the defence or Freiburg shot-stopper, Oliver Baumann. They didn’t put any pressure on Freiburg; the factor that cost them dearly against Hamburg a few weeks ago. Klopp and his team would be determined to not leave with a similar result to that of Hamburg's. However for Freiburg, they have pressed well, giving the Dortmund and their fans a real scare.

Half time- SC Freiburg 0-0 Borussia Dortmund. There was few real opportunities in the first half. Freiburg felt that Dortmund could have gone in at the break being down to ten men, when Sokratis brought down Zulechner just outside of the box. They deemed him to be the last man. Can Jurgen Klopp force his players to up the ante in the second half and take the three points?

Dortmund put Freiburg under much more pressure than they did in the first half. Julian Scheiber received the ball; he turned onto his left foot but his shot wide of the mark. Against the run of play for Frieburg saw them burst down the flanks. Dortmund got men behind the ball and were quick enough to regain shape and focus.

Henrik Mkhitaryan passed across the Freiburg box, Julian Schieber couldn’t get on the end of it. Mkhitaryan had a shot which clipped Kevin Großkeurtz’s shins, but it was easily gathered by Oliver Baumann. Dortmund were failing to create many clear-cut chances for themselves.

However, the deadlock was soon broken. A wonderful strike from club captain Sebastian Kehl, a left footed shot lobbing Baumann. Not a chance for the keeper. That goal ended Kehl’s Bundesliga goal drought. 1-0 Dortmund.

Dortmund looking to kill the game and put the game out of reach. A great run from the right side from Vladimir Darida he found Gelson Fernandes, but his shot went over.

A through ball by Freiburg but Roman Weidenfeller got there before Admir Mehmedi. A chance soon emerged for Jonas Hoffmann. Pierre Emerick Aubameyang’s slipped pass to Hoffmann, but he blazed his shot over.
