Bayern, already champions, would remain unmoved no matter the result and were in high hopes after brushing aside Man United in the champions league mid week. The Champions suffered their first Bundesliga defeat under the reign of Pep Guardiola at Augsburg last week losing by a goal to nil. BVB came into the game with somewhat higher hopes after two successive wins, one last weekend in the a Bundesliga against Wolfsburg and one during the week against Real Madrid in the Champions League. The only slight dent in confidence for the men in yellow could be caused by the exit from Europe after failing to claw back a three goal deficit, despite beating Real midweek. Dortmund can move no higher than their current second but can just further increase the gap between them and nearest rival Schalke.

The Champions got the game under way shooting to the left in front of a large away following. The first few minutes started very Bayern orientated with Dortmund seeing very little of the ball. The visitors seemed content enough to let Bayern pass around them as long as it lead to no danger, this allowed for Bayern to settle very quickly. The first chance fell in the hosts favour, but it was later ruled offside as it first appeared ex-Dortmund man Mario Götze was offside. Later replays showed he was onside. A rather heavy touch from Manuel Neuer almost left him blushing but he recovered and cleared. Dortmund's first real chance came from a Marco Reus costless kick. The inform attacker swung the ball in but Neuer was first to it and caught with no harm, the keeper took advantage of this and unleashed Franck Ribery, who was quickly dispossessed. Calls for handball were heard all around the Allianz, but fell on deaf ears, after the aforementioned Götze's shot hit looked to have hit the hand of Mats Hummels.

The ball was punted up field and Dortmund took full advantage of Bayern's poor defensive positioning. Reus squared it to Henrikh Mkhitaryan who slotted home from close range, making it 0-1 to the traveling side after twenty minutes. Die Borussen took lots of confidence from their goal and more shots followed in quick succession, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang coming closest from the multiple attempts. Dante spared Bayern from going a further goal down, after the Brazilian made a vital interception, cutting out a Kevin Großkreutz through-ball intended for assister of the opener Reus. Bayern did have a certain tenacity about their play after they conceded, it was easy to see they were pushing for an equaliser, but Mario Mandzukic made a mess of a golden opportunity and the pick of Bayern's first half chances.

Half Time- Bayern 0-1 Dortmund - Dortmund led through a Mkhitaryan goal against a Bayern side who were not looking their usual selves.

Twenty year old Lukas Raeder replaced Neuer after the half time interval, after the latter sustained a calf strainy. Other than that change the team remained unchanged as with Dortmund's XI.

Dortmund came flying out the blocks after getting the second half underway. Aubameyang came close to testing debutant Raeder but saw his envisaged run blocked. It wasn't long until die Schwarz-gelben added a second, as Reus slotted home against a helpless Raeder after a perfectly weighted lay-off from Aubameyang. That goal made it 0-2 Dortmund after forty-nine minutes, a dream start to the half for the visitors.

Sokratis stuck with a tricky Ribery and cleared it out for a corner, Arjen Robben's corner was met by Mandzukic whose ferocious volley went well off the mark. Dortmund's Jonas Hofmann rubbed more salt into the Bayern wounds, after he smashed past a stranded Raeder in the fifty-fifth minute. Calls for offside were rubbished by officials. BVB led 0-3, their fans were in dreamworld. It was to be Hofmann's last act of the day, as he was replaced by soon-to-be Bayern man Robert Lewandowski just past the hour mark. Reus, who was already on a goal and an assist, played the ball along the floor but Javi Martinez prevented the scoring of a fourth goal.

There was to be a belated push for goals for Bayern, but many opportunities were wasted. Firstly by Mandzukic, who scuffed a shot wide from close range, then secondly by Bastian Schweinsteiger, who shot from range and didn't worry the virtually unchallenged Roman Weidenfeller. Aubameyang always looked like scoring, the Gabonese international came close on a number of occasions, but saw yet another two shots well-saved by sub Raeder.

Mandzukic headed home and gave Bayern some late optimism of a comeback, but the flag was raised to the dismay of Bayern fans. It was definitely not Bayern's day as the home fans watched yet another decision go against them. There were two further late chances for Bayern from Thomas Muller and Mario Götze, but neither could find a way past Dortmund's defence.

In a moment of madness in the dying seconds of the game, Rafinha saw red for grabbing opening goal scorer Mkhitaryan by the face. A similar incident to the one that saw him sent-off last season in Dortmund, after he grabbed Jakub Blaszczykowski's face in pure petulance.
