Matthias Ginter's proposed move to Borussia Dortmund is now looking all the more likely after Stefan Mitrovic and Marc-Oliver Kempf both signed for Freiburg.

Centre-back Mitrovic, 24, joins Die Breisgauer from Benfica, having spent last season on loan at Real Valladoilid, whilst Kempf joins the club from Eintracht Frankfurt having played five games for them last season.

"SC Frieburg rightly enjoys a reputation that young players can develop very well and in peace here," Kempf Freiburg's website. "I want the sports club to take the next step and establish myself permanently in the Bundesliga. I want and will do that here. I look forward to new challenges."

The two defensive additions now paves the way for Ginter, 20, to move North to Dortmund ahead of the start of the 52nd Bundesliga season.

The Bundesliga giants are keen to add Ginter to their squad and a fee believed to be in the region of €10 million is thought to be enough to secure the services of the defender.

A deal is expected to be announced for the defender in the next 48-hours before Freiburg head to their training camp in Montafon.

"We are actually in new talks. Before we go on Friday to training camp, a final decision will hopefully fall," said SC-President Fritz Keller.

Ginter came back from Brazil with a World Cup medal. The defender spent four-weeks in South America with the German squad and shared a room with Borussia Dortmund's Kevin Großkreutz.

Following Germany's parade at Brandenburg Gate, Ginter said: "This will be seen. Anyway I have gotten into the Brazil-WG and felt very comfortable with Kevin."

Ginter has made 70 Bundesliga appearances for SC Freiburg, scoring two goals in the process. Before the tournament in Brazil, Ginter's consultant, Oliver Fischer told reporters: "Matthias is easily now ready for something very big."
