Verbeet (0) FC. Koln (6)

FC Köln continued their pre-season preperations with an impressive 6-0 victory away at fourth division Verbert.

It took 20 minutes for the newly promoted side to take the lead, Peszko was brought down in the area and Brecko duly converted from the spot.

Peszko was again involved twice, first smashing a ball against the post, only for Wallenborn to tap home. He then crossed for Gerhardt who finished easily to make it 3-0, with three in six minutes for the Billy Goats.

Finne added another before half-time, before Peszko finally got on the scoresheet 10 minutes into the second half, as Koln were romping to a third victory in four friendlies. Talented youngster Gerhardt had time to add another with 20 minutes left to make it 6-0, and Peter Stöger’s side were certainly building confidence ready for the new season next month.

Mannheim (5) Eintracht Frankfurt (2)

A second-half double from Alex Meier provided just a consolation as his side slipped to a 5-2 defeat to third division Mannheim tonight.

Muller and di Gregorio scored quickly on 12’ and 15’ to put the game firmly in the hands of the home side, as new boss Thomas Schaaf got his career off to a terrible start with the Eagles.

Haag added a third before half-time, and although Meier pulled one back on 50 minutes, it was all in vain. 20 year old Seegert made it 4-1 with 15 left, before Meier converted a penalty just a minute later.

There was time for a fifth in injury time, and although a friendly, the result will do nothing to erase fears of Frankfurt fans, whose side conceded 57 goals last season as they finished a lowly 13th place.
