Borussia Dortmund endured a tough, but worthwhile, 90 minutes with a 1-1 friendly draw away at VfL Osnabrück, where Ciro Immobile played the second 45 minutes for his debut with the German club since his summer move from Serie A.

Their goal was scored by Armenian midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who cancelled out a first half opener for Osnabrück in the 64th minute, a fine solo effort filled with individual brilliance.

VfL Captain Nicolas Feldhahn had put his side ahead in the 34th minute from the penalty spot after he was brought down by new signing Ji Dong Won, leaving Bundesliga and Champions League competitors BVB with some work to do.

They eventually did equalise, and Immobile had a chance to win it near the end too, but failed to convert after goalkeeper Daniel Heuer Fernandes did well.

The match was played in front of an estimated 13'000 people with Dortmund taking around 5000 supporters with them.

BVB II face Rot Weiss Erfurt on Thursday, whilst the first team are off to play RW Essen on Sunday. Kick off is at 17:00.
