Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored twice inside the first 10 minutes as Dortmund ensured their pre season friendly at Rot-Weiss Essen was one to remember, and one that would show signs of what to expect from them domestically and in the European competition this season.

Neven Subotic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and new boy Ciro Immobile completed the scoring for Jurgen Klopp's side, who  found themselves 5-1 up at half time thanks to Cebio Soukou's consolation goal. However, an injury to Immobile put a damper on a bright, successful day for BVB, though the extent of the injury has not yet been identified.

Goalkeeper Niclas Heimann was punished on 8 minutes after he was put under some good pressure and tackled by Aubameyang, who slotted home. Immobile then set up the front-man for his second two minutes later. Centre back Neven Subotic made it 0-3 with a header from an out-swinging corner from the right on 22 minutes. And three minutes after that, Mkhitaryan made it 0-4, heading home from a Schmelzer cross from the left.

On 30 minutes, they made it 0-5. Ciro Immobile scored his first for the club, finishing off a well worked move involving two previous scorers, Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan. Then, similarly to the BVB opener, Soukou capitalised on a lack of concentration to dispossess Bonmann to score, but it wasn't enough to ruin a good day out for Dortmund.

Klopp's side showed some good, encouraging signs in this friendly encounter prior to the forthcoming season, a year in which they will be looking to challenge Bayern for the title. New boys Adrian Ramos, Ji Dong Won and Ciro Immobile have been brought in to soften the blow of losing Polish starlet Robert Lewandowski, and the latter impressed yesterday to give the supporters hope that BVB will go from strength to strength despite losing of key players to rival clubs in the last few years.

Immbolie looked sharp on and off the ball, showing great movement and desire to create opportunities. He was unfortunately subject of a clatter with goalkeeper Heimann to force him off the field, and they will hope it is nothing to worry about.
