Valon Behrami joins HSV on a year deal for a fee in the region of €4.5 million from Serie A giants Napoli. German news outlet BILD first broke the news of HSV's interest in Behrami this past Wednesday and the deal was finalised today.

It is alleged Behrami had fallen out with ex-coach Rafa Benitez in Naples so the move away is good for both parties. The alleged fall-out could be the answer to Behrami's lack of first team football last term in which he made just 16 starts.

Hamburg have beaten off competition from teams in high places such as former European Champions, Inter Milan and even current La Liga champions Atletico Madrid. Reports across the globe also suggested Tottenham were looking at the former West Ham man.

Behrami is the first of "Beiersdorfer's €20 million spending spree" targets to join the side with moves for Mainz' Nicolai Muller and Augsburg's Matthias Ostrzolek expected to be completed in the coming days.
