Matthias Ostrzolek has joined Hamburger SV from fellow German outfit FC Augsburg on a three year deal for a fee of €2.75 million.

Last term Ostrzolek appeared in all but one of Augsburg's games and enjoyed a magnificent season under Marcus Wienzerl as the side defied all odds and surprised everyone.

With his deal running out next summer and with him being one of the best fullback prospects in the German game at present time, it appears Augsburg were willing to cash in on the man who came from the much famed, VFL Bochum academy rather than lose him on a costless.

Ostrzolek becomes the second star from the SGL Arena to leave for a very mere, €2.75 million this summer following Andre Hahn's departure earlier this summer. Both players undoubtedly were worth more and Augsburg could have made a pretty penny from them but the small release clauses in their contracts we're taken full advantage of by Hamburg and Mönchengladbach respectively.

Other interest in the defender came from Hertha Berlin but that move was ultimately stopped after the capital club signed Marvin Plattenhardt. Even the aforementioned Borussia Mönchengladbach had been rumoured with a move for him.

The recently turned twenty-four year old full back was part of "Beiersdorfer's €20 million spending spree" alongside Valon Behrami and Nicolai Muller whose transfers were confirmed last week.
