Japenese left-back Atsuto Uchida is set to extend his stay in the Bundesliga as it is reported that he is set to sign a new deal for Schalke 04. 

Uchida told German Newspaper Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung: "It's a fact my agent, Thomas Kroth, and I have spoken to the authorities of the club (regarding a new contract)." 

There was rumours of the Japenese international moving away in the summer window, those musings were to a move in North London to link up with Arsenal. The Gunners were looking for a repalcement for Bacary Sagna, who left for Manchester City. 

Uchida added: "If everything turns out to be fine with the deal, then I am going to stay on at the club."
