Eintracht Frankfurt today have announced that Stefan Aigner has extended his contract at the club. The 27-year-old has signed a four-year deal and he's pleased to have signed a new deal with his current contract ending at the end of the season.

Since his arrival from 1860 Munich, Aigner has been a big success. In his two seasons so far the midfielder has played a key role in Frankfurt's side and has also enjoyed a spell in the Europa League after Frankfurt's fantastic first season back in the Bundesliga. In his first season at Frankfurt, Aigner managed to make thirty-five appearances throughout the season, he scored nine goals in his opening season and he also contributed with eight assists. The attacking midfielder's second season at the club was just as good, he made thirty-seven appearances during the season across three competitions, the Bundesliga, DFB Pokal and Europa League. Last season saw him scoring six goals and creating ten for his team-mates.

Speaking to the club's website, Aigner revealed how pleased he was, "I am very pleased to have extended my contract with Eintracht prematurely, the last two years have been very successful and the experiences in the Europa League, with our 'positive' crazy 'fans, I'll never forget. I hope that the next four years run as positive and especially injury-free."

Aigner has yet to make an appearance this season due to injury, however he's recovered this week and he should be okay to travel to Gelsenkirchen to face Schalke 04.
