Hoffenheim won their second game of the 2014/15 season with a 2-0 win away from home against Stuttgart.

Stuttgart started the match the strongest by dominating the opening 15 minutes, but despite the hosts impressive start it was the side from Sinsheim who opened the scoring. French striker Antony Modeste was left unmarked in the Stuttgart penalty box and Sebastian Rudy whipped in a great costless-kick, the unmarked striker headed the ball past Sven Ulreich to give the visitors the lead in the 15th minute. Stuttgart had chances to equalise in the remainder of the first half from Florian Klein and Martin Harnik but each of their efforts went well wide of Oliver Baumann's goal.

The second half kicked off and Stuttgart winger Timo Werner almost equalised for Stuttgart after just eleven seconds, Harnik headed the ball to the youngster but Werner's right-footed effort went wide. Hoffenheim had a brilliant chance to double their lead in the 76th minute when both Firmino and Modeste missed a chipped pass from the right wing. The ball found its way to Kevin Volland, but his follow up shot was blocked by Modeste who had not recovered from his effort on goal.

Maxim almost equalised for the host, but Tobias Strobl blocked his half volley off the line and the ball went behind for a corner. Hoffenheim scored their second goal of the game in the 84th minute when Volland’s through ball found Tarik Elyounoussi, the Norwegian was sent through one-on-one with the 'keeper. Ulreich deflected the winger’s first shot, only for the winger to pick up the deflected ball and tapped it into the empty net to secure Hoffenheim the three points and a clean sheet.
