Bayern beat the then top of the league side Paderborn, 4-0 in front of 71,000 in the midst of Ocktober Fest. A brace from Mario Götze, Thomas Müller and Robert Lewandowski secured Bayern all three points.

Bayern sat third before the game; they came into this game with milestones beckoning, Neuer’s 100th Bayern appearance, and one goal off scoring 100 times under Guardiola. Bayern came into this game following their 0-0 with Hamburger SV.

Paderborn were sitting top of the league to surprise of everyone in the world. Some concern for the hosts today as Paderborn had the record of the most successful debutants in twenty-three years, since Hansa Rostock in 1991/92. Paderborn came into this game after beating Hannover 96 2-0 at home and Kachunga scoring an astounding 82m goal.

Early chance for Paderborn as a cross from the near side was delivered to Kachunga but the striker could provide a test to Manuel Neuer and his shot went over the bar. A dominant spell for Bayern came quickly after, as they scored two in the space of five minutes. After just eight minutes the deadlock was broken and it was home side that got the first goal, Robben found Muller in the box, he then found Mario Götze who's shot first time beat the keeper at the near post.

Bayern were soon at it again as David Alaba was found on the near side and he cut back to Götze, but he couldn’t beat Kruse. Bayern’s lead was doubled just five minutes later as Lahm neatly found Lewandowski who flicked it past his marker brilliantly and finished into the top left corner, pushed there with the help of goalkeeper Kruse. Moments later, Robben crossed low and hard finding Pole Robert Lewandowski who silkily turned goal side, forcing a brilliant sliding block from Hunemeier.

Stopplekamp burst through the middle on twenty-four minutes, one-on-one with Neuer, but he couldn’t beat him and could only hit it straight at the keeper. More opportunities came late in the half. Chance for Götze again on half an hour, Lewandowski to Götze headed corner from Robben down but he could only hit it over the bar.  Shot from Robben who brought it down and adjusted himself and shot goal wards with his left bit he couldn’t get his shot on target, he came very close to making it 3-0. On the stroke of half time, chance fell for Mario Götze but he dragged his shot wide.

Paderborn had chances to sneak a goal past a rusty Manuel Neuer. Kachunga had a chance following good build up play, diagonal ball chested down Wemmer to Kachunga, his volley over the bar. Good chance for Paderborn just after the hour mark, Koc was set through he lost is footing in the process and blazed his shot over the bar. Neuer called into action for the first time on seventy minutes, Koc received the ball on the far side, his shot caused slight trouble at the near post for Neuer, but he parried the ball out for a corner.

Paderborn’s defence were then broken down for a third time, Rode found Robben, he broke to the by-line and set up Müller who’s shot was saved but Götze was in the right place at the right time and finished emphatically to make it 3-0. Then, five minutes before stoppage time, Müller prodded in from close range from a Arjen Robben delivery to add insult to injury and make it 4-0.

Bayern were back to their dominant best as they played Paderborn off the park with their possession and passing, because of Mainz’s 2-2 draw it means Bayern go back to the top of the Bundesliga.
