Bayer Leverkusen eased their way past an unaspiring Augsburg side as die Werkself won 1-0 with a goal from South Korean winger Heung Min Son.

Stefan Kiessling almost gave Leverkusen the lead 5 minutes into the game, after a cross from Roberto Hilbert ran along the face of goal; but his effort was wasted and the Augsburg defence managed to clear the ball behind for a corner. Son scored the only goal of the match in the 32nd minute. The winger made a clever run into the 18-yard-box and the South Korean latched onto a Hilbert throught ball and lashed the ball past Marwin Hitz to give the hosts the lead.

The match was briefly suspended due to heavy rainfall, however both teams emerged out of the tunnel only a few of minutes later and the game was resumed. The second half provided little to stalk about. The best chance of the second half came to Leverkusen when Kiessling’s shot from 4 yards out was saved well from Hitz. The result sends Bayer Leverkusen joint 2nd in the Bundesliga table with Hannover 96. Both sides sit on 10 points and +2 goal difference.
