The first 10 minutes started as expected with Dortmund having plenty of possession and the hosts setting up defensively to try and absorb the pressure.

Both Marco Reus and Ciro Immobile went close, young Timo Horn doing well to deny the Italian in particular.

Around the half hour mark, captain Matthias Lehmann had a half chance on the edge of the Dortmund box but he harmlessly miss-hit the ball to let the visitors off.

Reus showed great acceleration and dribbling to fashion himself a chance but the German winger’s tame shot was straight at Horn.

Effzeh were growing in to the game and took a shock lead. Marcel Risse headed Kevin Vogt through after Mats Hummels left his man to try and win the ball from Risse and the midfielder calmly put his side one up

Ilkay Gundogan had a snap shot just before the break, which was comfortably saved.

Dortmund equalised just three minutes into the second half. Koln were dispossessed in midfield, Dortmund broke, Immobile played a great one two with Reus and finished well to draw the scores level.

The away side then had a spell of pressure resulting in Reus having a blocked shot.

Shortly after, Zoller controlled a long ball and managed to escape Hummels but his unorthodox effort went inches past the post.

Koln took the lead again in the 74th minute when Yuya Osako’s cross was inexplicably missed by Roman Weidenfeller and Zoller tapped the ball into an open goal with the Billy Goats hanging on to secure a memorable win.
