FSV Frankfurt climbed off the foot of the 2.Bundesliga table tonight with an enthralling 5-2 win over Greuther Fürth – which included a goal from 30-yards and a sending off.

The visitors started the game with just four points from their previous seven games whilst Fürth were sitting comfortably in mid-table.

It was however – the hosts who took the lead after 10 minutes through Goran Sukalo after Patric Klandt parried the ball in to the path of the Slovenian. The goal came around after a great play from Tom Weilandt produced a save from the FSV goalkeeper – from here; it looked as though it could have a long night for the visitors.

However, FSV Frankfurt had the ball in the net at the other end, equalising just five minutes later when Vincenzo Grifo bagged his third goal of the season – from a dead ball situation. The Italian curled a brilliant costless-kick low and around the wall to leave the goalkeeper no chance.

Frankfurt then took the lead just another six minutes later, this time it was through Tom Beugelsdijk who had the easiest of tasks to tap home and send his team in front.

The goals were flowing as Sukalo equalised for Fürth on the half-hour mark. Marco Stiepermann whipped the ball in – who found Niko Gießelmann. His header was fumbled by Klandt and Sukalo made no mistake in bagging the equaliser.

It didn’t last however, as Frankfurt were in front just three minutes later after Grifo scored a volley from 30-yards, leaving the goalkeeper no chance, whilst the fans were in awe of the strike.

It was 14 minutes in to the second half before we saw another goal – as Zlatko Dedic gave Frankfurt a bit of breathing space. Fürth gave the ball away on the halfway line which was picked up by Alexander Hubner who sent through the striker – who calmly slotted the ball past the onrushing goalkeeper.

Things were heated in the closing stages as Sukalo received a straight red for a tackle in the box, giving away a penalty. Up stepped Grifo who bagged his hattrick and the three points for Frankfurt, who climb up to 13th in the table.

Meanwhile, Fürth remain in 7th place before a trip to the capital to face Union Berlin in Matchday 12.
