Karlsruher SC record their fourth win the of the season with a 4-0 win over St Pauli, moving the 2.Bundesliga side to seventh.

Two goals in the first-half from Hiroki Yamada and Rouwen Hennings gave Karlsruher SC a well deserved two-nil lead going in to half-time before John Verhoek had the ball in the back of the net, only for it to be ruled out for offside. Selcuk Alibaz put any doubt of a comeback at ease with the third goal, 10 minutes from time, before Yamada added more misery for the home fans.

St Pauli came in to game following a 1-0 defeat away at Fortuna Dusseldorf whilst the visitors managed a 0-0 draw against VfR Aalen.

Marc Rzatkowski nearly gave St Pauli the lead in the opening five minutes of the game when he attempted a shot from distance – however, Dirk Orlishausen smothered the ball. Lennart Thy with an effort just minutes later which was pushed on to the post by the Karlsruher SC goalkeeper. Christopher Nothe then tested Orlishausen from 25-yards which the goalkeeper gathered with ease.

Despite the dominance, Karlsruher SC took the lead after 18 minutes when Dennis Kempe was freed down the left – whose cross found Yamada and his touch and finish was exemplary. Low, hard and well out of Philipp Tschauner's reach.

The visitors then doubled their lead through Hennings after miscommunication between the St Pauli defence. The forward was through on goal before leathering the ball in to the top corner as Karlsruher looked more comfortable. 

Following the restart, St Pauli had the ball in the back of the net through John Verhoek with a bicycle kick, however the referee, Sascha Stegemann ruled the goal out for offside.

Despite St Pauli having the ball in the back of the net, it was Karlsruher who looked the most prominent going forward. Yamada looked to get on the scoresheet again, this time from 20-yards but the ball didn't trouble Tschauner. Whilst Hennings nearly scored another goal - this time in the wrong end, hitting his own post.

Hennings, a former St Pauli player who played 73 games for Die Freibeuter looked dangerous throughout, causing the home side all sorts of problems.

St Pauli looked lost for ideas in the closing stages of the game as substitute - Michael Gorlitz had a shot in desperation.

Karlsruher substitute, Alibaz put the game beyond doubt 10 minutes from time with the third goal for the visitors. Hennings was involved again - finding the midfielder in the box who placed the ball past Tschauner.

Yamada scored his second of the game with help form Alibaz who crosses the ball in. Sobiech couldn't get enough on his clearance and the ball fell straight to Japanese international who fired the ball past the St Pauli goalkeeper.

The home side face a crucial game against fourth placed Kaiserslautern next week whilst Karlsruher play hosts to relegation threatened Sandhausen.
