Following tonight's final fixtures in the second round, the draw for the DFB Pokal last sixteen was made.

The undoubted tie of the round sees Borussia Dortmund, fresh from their 0-3 win over St.Pauli, face off against Dynamo Dresden; a clash of two massive and passionate fanbases. Now in the 3.Liga, Dresden required extra-time to upset VfL Bochum and gain a place in the third round.

Kickers Offenbach managed to beat Karlsruher by a single goal in the last round and were suitably rewarded; a chance to host high flying Borussia Mönchengladbach is one that they will relish. Gladbach themselves survived a late scare to edge past Eintracht Frankfurt and will be keen to carry their assault onto all fronts.

Another interesting tie will pit Arminia Bielefeld against Werder Bremen. The Northerners beat off 3.Liga competition in the form of Chemnitzer on Tuesday, and will be hopeful of a repeat performance in March. Viktor Skripnik got his first win in that game, but Bielefeld will be keen to upset the odds once more, after they dumped out Hertha Berlin on penalties.

Kaiserslautern will face in form Bayer Leverkusen in the next round, after the red devils overcame the challenge of Greuther Fürth. It was a much more difficult passage for Leverkusen; they'll be thanking Bernd Leno and his penalty saving abilities, when they squeezed past Madgeburg on spot-kicks on Wednesday.

Bayern Munich earned themselves a very favourable draw, when it was announced they'd face Eintracht Braunschweig. Both sides won on Wednesday night; Bayern put a lacklustre Hamburger SV to the sword, while Braunschweig made hard work of a determined Würzburger Kickers side. Havard Nielsen struck late for the lions, who were fortunate not to be taken to extra-time when Christopher Bieber's goal was disallowed.

Another side that made their way through on Wednesday was SC Freiburg. They came back from a goal down to eventually put five past 1860 Munich, the first time SCF had come back from a deficit this season. FC Köln will be their opponents, after Timo Horn's heroics saw them advance on penalties.

VfL Wolfsburg will have nightmares following the draw, RB Leipzig upset the odds in recent years to dump the Wolves out of DFB Pokal action. Leipzig required extra-time to beat Erzgebirge Aue, coming back to earn a hard-fought win. Wolfsburg had to pull a similar performance out of their hat, but they comfortably saw off Heidenheim in the end.

The final tie features Hoffenheim and VfR Aalen. Despite a difficult start to the 2.bundesliga, Aalen recorded a marvelous 2-0 win over Hannover on Tuesday. As for Hoffenheim, proceedings were much more routine in Sinsheim; Firmino and co. put five past a disappointing FSV Frankfurt.
