17-year-old Breel Embolo had been rumoured to be on the move to Wolfsburg this winter, only for Klaus Allofs to publicly deny any transfer.

The FC Basel youngster is making waves this season, especially after scoring his first Champions League goal, against Ludogorets, on Tuesday. Swiss newspaper 'Blick' has speculated that a whole host of top level European clubs are interest, but the Wolves had supposedly already done the deal for €12million.

"This is a player, which you have to do your homework on," said Allofs to kicker, but the sporting director was quick to rubbish rumours of his signing: "That's not true, there is no agreement with the player."

In fact, Allofs played down the chances of any business in the next two transfer windows: "We do not crave the winter break to come about in order to do anything. In the winter, not much will happen in; hopefully not much in the summer either."
