SC Freiburg will be high in confidence heading into this Bundesliga match when they face Schalke 04.

Freiburg secured their first victory of the season last Sunday managing to edge out FC Koln 1-0. This victory sending them to sixteenth in the league with eight points, drawing five and losing four.

Freiburg coach Christian Streich spoke of how important it is to restrict their opponents to as few opportunities as possible

He said: “Schalke need very few chances to score a goal.

"They’ve got a great deal of quality and, of course, some outstanding individuals.”

Schalke are having an indifferent start to their Bundesliga season with an equal number of victories and defeats with four each way leaving them eighth in the table, wayward of pre-season predictions.

They will be looking to end their patch of poor away from under new manager Roberto Di Matteo, they have won their three homes under Di Matteo but have lost both the matches away from home including a 4-2 defeat at Sporting Lisbon midweek.

Striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting said: “We want the three points and that is what we are aiming for.

“We’ve certainly got the quality to win there, but we’re going to have to show more self-confidence than we did in the Sporting game.”

One huge blow for Schalke will be the loss of Julian Draxler, the talented winger tore his hamstring against Augsburg last week and will keep him out till the New Year.
