After fracturing his ankle in a Tuesday morning training exercise, Bayern Munich confirmed that club captain Philipp Lahm would miss the next three months of action.

Lahm, who retired from the German national team following the World Cup win, was not involved in any collision. He was taken by golf cart immediately from the pitch to the office of Dr. Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt.

From there, after a diagnosis, Lahm left with his ankle heavily bandaged and on crutches. The club's official Twitter account announced the news shortly after, "Big blow for Philipp Lahm: The captain has suffered a fractured ankle. He needs an operation and will be out for around three months."

Thankfully for Bayern, they will have the more than capable Sebastian Rode to step in for Lahm. Thiago, David Alaba, Claudio Pizarro and Javi Martinez are long-term absentees, while Manuel Neuer and Jerome Boateng are expected to be fit for Hoffenheim's visit to the Allianz Arena.
