It was a tale of two halves in Berlin today as 1860 Munich finally get a good offensive display after they had been struggling lately and were slipping down the 2. Bundesliga table. But they were able to defeat Union Berlin, by a score of 1-4, to give themselves some breathing room from the bottom three.

Chances were few and far between in the first half of play as Union and 1860 were passing the ball from the left to the right and back the other way more than they were going forward. The visitors, though, took the lead inside ten minutes through a swift counter after Union failed to convert a corner as Daniel Adlung finished off the move after he was found by Maximilian Wittek. Maxi Thiel had a good look at goal in the 34th minute for the home side but he wasted a good opportunity. 1860 Munich doubled their lead in the 39th minute through Austrian-born striker Rubin Okotie. Right before the interval, the hosts looked to perhaps pull one back at a crucial time, but it wasn't meant to be Damir Kreilach's shot went straight into the hands of Stefan Ortega Moreno.

Something must've been said in both locker rooms to come out with a more attacking sense of mind because there were three goals scored in the five minutes. 1860's Rubin Okotie did well to compose himself to loop it over Daniel Haas as the Union goalkeeper could do nothing about that goal. Valdet Rama increased his sides lead to four goals to nil after he and Adlung played a quick one two to get Rama in a good position inside the area as he smashed the ball into the back of the net. Union Berlin were able to bring a goal back through Sebastian Polter after a very well worked move in their attacking third of the pitch. The home side had the opportunity to score a second, but Christopher Quiring squandered the opportunity as he had his penalty saved very well by Ortega.

Things finally started to calm down after the hour mark as 1860 were looking to make the game slower, trying to keep the ball away from Union. Bjorn Jopek had a good opportunity to pull another back for Union but his shot was wasted as it never reached the frame of the goal. Polter had another chance as he looked for his brace, however, his header went straight into the hands of Ortega as he managed to catch the ball rather easily.

In the end, this match turned out to be very exciting as the second half was the more exciting of the two with chances galore as Union Berlin tried to get something positive from the result. But 1860 Munich deserved all three points after a fantastic offensive display from them as they so desperately needed these three points which will hopefully kick-start the rest of their campaign.
