Kevin de Bruyne spoke to German newspaper Kicker earlier today. He spoke about Bayern Munich’s seven-point gap at the top of the Bundesliga, a potential return to the Premier League and where his primary focus lies.

Bayern Munich, who are looking for their third consecutive Bundesliga crown, hold a sizeable gap over Wolfsburg. The Wolves upset all the odds in 2008-09, when they won their first and only Bundesliga title under Felix Magath. Belgian International Kevin de Bruyne revealed that he indeed would be very happy with the second place, currently occupied by VfL, but he aims to, “always try to be first."

The title has not been written off the completely by KDB this season, even though the leaders hardly seem to let slip the seven point deficit. However, he did hint at his ‘never say die attitude’, "Perhaps can weaken Bayern’s lead." The gap between first and second is too large at this time for the rejuvenated lower Saxony club: "If at Bayern ten top players are injured, they still play with a top team. That is something else!”

On a potential return to the Premier League, he rubbished the rumours and has plans, for the time being to stay with Wolfsburg. He admitted his main focus is on the Europa League, this season. De Bruyne has had a spell in England, in the past, where he previously did not get along at Chelsea as well as he’d planned, "If I play for the rest of my career in the Bundesliga, that would be good for me."

De Bruyne emphasised in his 'kicker' interview, "The main objective is victory in the Europa League then we would also have qualified for the Champions League." Though qualifying for the Champions League remains the ultimate goal. "I hope we make it, I also think that it is realistic. But we will still have periods where we are going to lose games. We need to stay calm."

He feels home at VfL and feels very well received, "Of course you can not compare cities, but I'm here to play football, the rest is good for me," said De Bruyne, whose new contract expires in 2019: "It's important to have stability. Many aspects have played a role, of course." If all is going well, then he will when his contract expires in 2019, he will continue at VfL. "But this is football. It may also be that I go sometime.”

So far this season, the Belgian has netted four goals and assisted eleven times in all competitions for the Wolves, will he shine throughout the rest of the season. Only time will tell, the early signs are positive.
